#tbt and stuff

So I got this new app on my phone called timehop. Apparently it's not actually that new. But it's new to me and I really love it. It shows you what you did on this date (e.g. January 22)  in history according to facebook, instagram, pics on your phone, etc. Turns out I was quite the social butterfly back in the day. Aka, I was regularly updating my status on facebook, uploading new albums of photos on facebook, and let's face it--blogging a lot more.

Anyway, it's so great because it brings back awesome and hilarious memories from previous years. So over the past few weeks I've been taking a screen shot of some of them and texting them to friends/family involved and it's just been super fun. Also, it's so ridiculous and I am regularly reminded of the weird things I do/did. Mostly did. Here are a few examples of some good ones:

This is a picture of Danielle and it's a pretty good representation of oh...every day of her life. Haha, jokes. More like every day when she had work and school and a budding social life (aka baking and picking up sticks with her bf Dillon). Girl can sleep. A lottttttttt. Like a lotta lotta lot. It's really impressive. But I'd like us all to take a minute and check out that form. I mean, girl. Arms e'erywhere, puffy coat still on, glasses properly placed (hopefully this is after the time I stepped on her glasses and broke them so she had to tape them back together with scotch tape). She probs had a solid three hours to go on this nap. Go get 'em, girl.

This picture was taken just over two years ago, just weeks before Rach had her first bay bay Kenny! What's crazy is that her second bebe is due TOMORROW! Whaaaaa?!?! Totes cray. I just remember this is from one day when we were walking home from BYU together to go hang out at her house (basically I force my friends to hang out with me, even if they're super preggo). All I know is Rachel kept laughing when we were walking home and I was legitimately afraid she was going to like go into labor or something. (Hey Rach! I hope you go into labor while reading this! Best friend of the year goes to me!)

And finally, this picture. Holy cow, this is just a perfect representation of everything that was our freshman year at BYU. Can you even believe this was SIX years ago?! Ugh, I hate that...I'm seriously ancient now. It seems like this was just last year or something. Freshman year was basically constant craziness, high energy, screaming, laughing, pranking, partying, and zero sleep. I want to just say I often try to remember when the heck I did homework and what the heck I ate. I honestly cannot figure out how I still managed to get good grades. Anyway, I think this picture is from one time when we were going to like an 80's dance or something. At the time, we were obsessed with show 24 and I think we were trying to act like two teenage girls that were in the first season. The sad thing is, we were pretending to be extra goofy looking, but I'm pretty sure I have approximately one billion other pictures of us with essentially the same faces/attitude/sassiness. I don't know, chock it up to being 19 and living on my own for the first time.

Also, look. It's a selfie from before selfies were a thing. #winning

you may call me forgetful face if you want.

I'm a very responsible person.  Really, I am. I always pay my rent on time, I'm always to work a few minutes early, I keep the kitchen clean (or at least I try to?), I never would turn in homework late, I do the dishes (pretty much) always right after I use them, and I do my laundry regularly (that's code for, I do my laundry before I run out of underwear).

That being said, I would like to announce that apparently I've lost my mind.  Seriously though.  If you were to ask Levi, he would say that I've always been like this, but I swear I haven't.  Lately, I just forget things ALL the time.  I'll agree to bring something to someone's house and then arrive at their house having completely forgotten the item.  We're half way across town when I realize I forgot the clothes I needed to return at the store.  When Levi calls and tells me that he has pulled the car up right outside my apartment, I walk out and get in his car and then suddenly realize that I forgot my purse.  Or more commonly, I have forgotten my phone.  Seriously, the phone. All the dang time.

There have been a few times when we'll be walking to something like a football game and I'll ask him if he has the tickets and he'll be like, "Oh shoot! I forgot them.....just kidding!" followed by "See that feeling of worry you just had when you thought I had forgotten the tickets? Welcome to every day of my life. Now you know what it feels like to be dating you."  It's all a joke, but seriously. Poor guy because I forget stuff alllllll the time and he has to deal with me running back into my apartment to grab my phone or wallet or jacket or shoes or whatever it is I forgot.  In fact, he's gone so far as to trying to trick me into getting ready to leave about 15 minutes earlier than we need to so that we'll have time in case I end up forgetting something.  Sheesh.

Anyway, one time we went to a football game and what do you know? I forgot my phone. (But don't worry, Levi remembered the tickets).  And forgetting my phone means it was left at home. Which means it was left in the hands of my three oh so very mature and responsible roommates.  Which then means about a million pictures were taken on my phone.  So to say thanks to them for their model poses, I thought I would share some of them for everyone else to see. Also, apparently Michaelanne wasn't having any of it--she was way too focused on that food.

Also, in case you were wondering, I just ate like a cup of croutons and now my stomach feels weird. Okay, bye.

food and friends and more food.

This last week has been pretty swell.  It was full of old roommates and friends and food and it was fantastic.

Last Friday Rachel and Kenneth came into town for the weekend to be here for Kenneth's grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary.  They were only here for the weekend, but we still got to hang out twice.  On Friday, we went with them to Sonic for shakes and also, here's the thing: Sonic has a fantastic Reese's shakes like woah.  Anyway, it was fun to catch up with them and to hear about the hilarious things that happen in South Carolina, which is where they live.  Also, while we were there, these high school-aged kids came up to us and they were apparently on a scavenger hunt.  One of the things they needed to do was have a stranger kiss one of the guys on the cheek.  Rachel got out with the excuse that she was married, but I couldn't do that. They guy kept begging and begging and I tried to have him get Levi or Kenneth to do it, since apparently he would get more points if he did that.  It was very strange and confusing, but we eventually convinced them that we were not going to kiss him.  From the sound of things, he eventually got someone else to kiss him.  Good for him.

On Saturday, Levi and I went and tried out this place called Slab Pizza.  Um, it's so super great.  I got chicken cordon bleu and chicken bacon ranch and they were both quite marvelous except they were huge so I could only eat half of it and Levi had to help me out.  It's nice to have him around sometimes.  Actually, it's nice all the time.

Then on Sunday was Katie's homecoming talk up in Centerville. This meant that I got to see Kelsey, and Kennedy, and Rachel (and Kenneth), and even Danielle (and Dillon). But most importantly, baby Kenny! Oh, and I guess also Katie.  It was so fun to hang out with them and to see Katie again because let's be honest, I love that girl and I am so super one million excited that she's back!

Then on Monday, I got to hang out with roommates again!!  Rachel wasn't there, but instead we had other Rachael as well as Keisha! This time we went to dinner at this place called Paradise Bakery.  It was good except that if you go there, don't get that one sandwich that I got that had this weird horseradish spread stuff on it.  It was weird.  Man, it's good to be with those girls.  We just sat there and talk and laughed very loudly for a good two hours.  Also there was this one part where I was surprised by something funny and then I laughed so hard that I may or may not have sprayed some of my food on Rachael. Oops.  Actually, that's embarrassing.  But like I said, the sandwich tasted a little weird anyway, so it was like nbd.  We tried to have someone take a picture of us, but that didn't work out so well so I ended up taking a picture of us as we exited the building.  This resulted in my head being very close to the camera and that's unfortunate, but at least everyone else looked cute.

On Tuesday, I made Chicken Crescents for dinner which is something my mom would make.  I really like them, but every time I make them I am always reminded of how many steps it takes to make them.  Okay, it's not actually that many, but still. I'm more of a mix it all in a bowl, throw it in the oven and BAM! dinner is served kind of girl.  Still, it was quite delicious.

On Wednesday, it was weddingapalooza, as Levi called it.  We went to two wedding receptions.  The first one was for my friend Kelsey who I worked with in sociology.  She's so super great and I am so mega happy for her.  Levi loved the location because it was indoors and also air-conditioned. What more could you want?

The second wedding reception was for Reegan Lake, sister of the one and only Keisha (Lake) Hendricks. And let me tell you something--those Lake ladies know how to put together a good reception, I'll tell you what.  Well done, Keech.  Also, I just like hanging out with the Lakes.  They're neat.  Also, right now I'm thinking about the mini pies that they served at the reception and I want one, dang it.  I would have posted the picture of me and Keech, but somehow I managed to have a super creepy claw hand on Keisha's shoulder and it is a little too frightening for public view, so sorry.

Then on Thursday, I made sesame chicken!  Remember my need for fried chicken all the time always?  Yeah, well that's still happening, but I'm trying to tone it down.  So I made this; it was delicious chicken, but not so fried and crispy.  It did the trick.  Except for the part where the chicken coating burned to the bottom of the pan, essentially blocking the heat and making it take 12 years for the chicken to cook.  So we (and by we, I mostly mean Levi) had to spend 7 of those years scraping the bottom of the pan so the dang chicken would cook. So that was fun.

And then to end this saga, I will tell you that yesterday, we went camping with Dillon and Danielle.  And by camping, I mean we just went to a nearby park up the canyon and had foil dinners and then came home and watched a movie. But the guys did a great job being manly by chopping wood and building a fire (using the teepee method--not the log cabin method--as they made sure to point out).  Danielle and I did a really great job of watching and providing moral support.  And moral support from me mostly includes me getting stressed about the possibility of Levi chopping his fingers instead of the wood and the possibility of him falling in the fire as he and Dillon ran around passing the rugby ball back and forth.  All in all, it was a fabulous evening; the food was totes delish, no one chopped their fingers off, and the rugby ball was the only thing to fall into the fire pit. I'd say it was a success.

shamwow!!!

In light of the fact that we recently had the Grammys or the Oscars or something like that (I can never remember), I figured it was a perfect time to share the following story:

During my freshman year of college, my ward (church congregation) did this thing where smaller groups each made a video and then we had the VMA's (Video Music Awards) where each video was presented. At this point, I feel it is appropriate to mention that the picture shown above is of me, Keech, and Rach at said VMA's.  And yes, that's right. Keisha is wearing the largest leopard print thing I've ever seen.  But more importantly, Rachel wore tie-dye overall shorts to the event and yes, I encouraged it.  So judge me. But mostly judge her.

Our group decided to do this thing where we basically just pretended like we were all fighting over the t.v. remote and so the t.v. that we were supposedly watching kept changing channels and on each channel was a different show or commercial that we made.  The video was supposed to be all those different shows or commercials.  I remember we did a clip about the Bachelorette, Power Rangers, 24, the "Single Ladies" dance and a bunch of other weird stuff.  But I had a favorite clip.  It was a commercial featuring the one and only Rachel "Manning the Harpoon" Alford.  In this clip, she advertises the highly sought after SHAMWOW.  That's right. A SHAMWOW.  Feast your eyes on this, foolzz:

Seriously, I kid you not when I say this goes down in my top five favorite things featuring Rachel ever caught on film...other items on the list include:
  1. Rach dancing with a wall
  2. Rach and I both grabbing a towel at the same time and knocking everything off of our desk and then her ending up in the closet...sounds suspicious...
  3. kicking cones in a parking lot
  4. pouring water on Rach in the shower
  5. Rach dancing with a hairbrush and a can of holiday popcorn to the song "Get Silly"
  6. our "You Belong with Me" music video
  7. her saying "Freshman Yeeeeeear" in a video
  8. Rach and Karie pregnant smashing me
  9. Rach and I both filming each other in our bedroom trying to "give the viewer multiple perspectives of the event"
  10. Rach lint rolling me
  11. our "Love Me Tender" music vid
  12. our Pimple Juice video
  13. Rach's jump roping/hula-hooping dress rehearsal routine
  14. Rach dancing to "Party in the U.S.A." in the hospital parking lot
  15. Rach and I in a documentary of REAL LIFE a.k.a the drive to Ogden, Utah and back
  16. Rach and I making banana chocolate chip muffins (which was actually filmed when we were kind of annoyed with each other and so there is zero laughing in it which actually just makes it funnier to me)
  17. Rach singing 'Sexy Can I' in the bathroom
  18. Rach's superior acting as a guardian angel in a movie where she was persuading me not to go on a date with a math nerd
  19. our educational and entirely factual Thanksgiving video
  20. Rach and I in the random tandem experience
  21. anything involving Rachel modeling which is like a million vids
  22. Rachel dancing to Stephen playing the violin
  23. Rach and I in "Thug Story"
  24. Rach doing interpretive dancing to a variety of Miley Cyrus songs.
So it looks like my top five consists of more than five...just go with it.

But seriously, this one is for reals in my top five.  Favorite line? "Better than any towel or...pAper towel."  Ahhahaha, the way her voice goes up on the first syllable of 'paper' and the fact that she said "towel" and THEN said "paper towel".  I mean, seriously.  The only thing stronger than a towel would be a paper towel, didn't you know?  Also, my other favorite part is pretty much any time she says Shamwow.  Gosh, it kills me. Girl was a natural born actress, not a joke.

Just another reason why Rachel "Manning the Harpoon" Alford is one of the number one best things that has ever happened to me.  Totes not joking even a little bit.

mad 8 and the foxy foxhood 12

So last night we had a sophomore/junior year get together.  It was splendid.  It has been fun to see where our lives have taken us since those magical years that we lived together. For example, marriage and babies. Since Rachel had her baby on Thursday, that is now my fourth roommate that has had a baby.  Cray cray!  So Rachel and Margaret weren't there and Katie and Kelsey and Catie are on missions, but the four of us were able to get together and it was quite splendid.  It's always fun to get together again and catch up and reminisce about when we lived together.  We were seriously so weird and crazy, it kills me.  Also, Kennedy literally has the cutest child ever, not a joke.

Anyway, today I was going through some old emails and not only did I find a gem from Rachel telling me that her email was princess-angel@cinci.com, but I also found the "Roommate Final" that Rachel wrote at the end of sophomore year.  I seriously die when reading it.  So I thought I'd share it for some jolly good laughter. It's from second semester, so Kennedy and Margaret were on study abroad so they weren't really included in the questions, but it's still pretty hilarious if you ask me.

Also, I can't believe I just went through and put all my answers in parentheses...I don't know if they're all right, but those are my guesses.

Key: Racha=Rachael Thompson (Calquin) , Keish, Keech=Keisha Lake (Hendricks), Rach=Rachel Manning (Alford), Katie=Katie Cutler!, Kels=Kelsey, and me=me (Stacy!)

My roommates and I have a running joke that at the end of each semester we are going to administer a roommate final exam to see how well we know one another.

Roommates, if you want a study guide for this semester's exam, here it is. Make sure you know
ALL that's on this post.

1. Learn what Katie's favorite animal is. If you aren't sure, listen to when she sleep talks because apparently that is all she dreams about.(Horses)
2. Watch Kelsey when she does her hair. What does she always say when she finally gets it done?
3. Learn about Keisha's favorite words. Specifically, she has three that she likes. (Clearly, obviously, whatnot)
4. There is something Katie does that is unique when she washes her hands. What does she do? (2 things) (that squeezy soap sound!)
5. Who likes to play "Guess what price I paid for this, but make sure that you guess more than you really think" game? (Rach)

see more after the jump...

bay bay!

Last weekend, we had a baby shower for my main girl Rachy Rach.  Girl is seven months pregnant and I can't even believe it.  Anyway, we had said shower here at my house because, let's be real.  I have a pretty big living room.  Rachel's sister planned all the games and decorations and such and I was simply in charge of food.  Which was good because it turns out even that stressed me out.  Okay, not really, but let me just tell you that if I did not have the help of Allison and Danielle that baby shower would have had saltine crackers only.

Anyway, I was actually really excited to put this together and I think it all turned out rather well.  I even got all kinds of cray and made one of those triangle banner things.  And when I say I made that, I mean it was entirely made by Allison.  I just thought of it.  Man, I'm the worst.

Apparently Rachel is really popular because I'd say there were at least 20 people that came.  It was really fun and we played some fun games (all planned by Tracey).  Of course, I did embarrassing things, but what else is new?  Rachel got some ADORABLE gifts including the CUTEST little sweater from H&M.  Srsly, I am doing all my baby shopping there from now on, NOT A JOKE.

Also, my number one favorite thing about baby showers and bridal showers and all other showers (except the normal style one that I take every day--or every other day???) is the fact that I get to see so many of my beautiful, wonderful, fabulous friends/old roommates.  Gosh dang it, I'm obsessed with those girls. We had five of the six Penrose girls and it was just magical.  I'm so glad that these girls are still such good friends to me.  I mean, really.  I lucked out big time in the roommate department.  It's unreal.

And of course, I suppose this is an appropriate time to mention that Rachel is still my number one favorite girl.  I have a lot of besties (that word is just gross looking and gross sounding, but let's just roll with it), but that Rachel.  Girl just kills me.  Also, did you know she's amazing?  Like seriously.  One million amazing.  SUCH a good person, SUCH a hard worker, SUCH a good student (although seniorits can be a doozie, haha), SUCH a hilarious person, SUCH an awesome example to me, and SUCH everything I every could have asked for in a roommate and best friend.  Oh, and she's going to be SUCH a good mom.  Love you, kid.

And now, the part of the show where I show you a few pictures from the blessed event, courtesy of instagram.

This girl. THE best. (P.S. Twin boots!)

Penrose, baby.  Too good.

Oh, and this picture happened.  So strange, yet so one million hilarious to me.

Though we struggled to get the cake out of the pan, with a little frosting love from Danielle and a mini banner by me, I think this three-layered cake turned out alright after all.

Success!

does anyone here have epilepsy?

April 2009

It's weird to think that I started my freshman year of college four whole years ago.  I look at the little freshman running all over campus and I can't believe it's been FOUR years since I was one of them.  Time seriously flies by, it's ridiculous.

Tonight as we were driving home and I was falling asleep in the back, I remember seeing some flashing lights through my closed eyelids.  This reminded me of one of my all-time favorite freshman year moments.

One time, Rach and I were in our Physical Science 100 class.  The professor was going through the slides all super normal style.  Then he clicked to go to the next slide and all the slide said was, "Does anyone here have epilepsy?"

We were both like, what the cray?  It turns out he was about to pull out a strobe light and he didn't want any there to be any people with epilepsy who might be affected by these flashing lights and have seizures or something.  I mean, it all made sense, but it was just the weirdest thing to see a slide that just asked if anyone had epilepsy.

Sooooo, that's kind of one of my favorite jokes now and it might not be entirely appropriate but whenever there is a flashing or flickering light, I always say, "Oh my gosh!  Nobody asked if I have epilepsy! That was soooooo rude." I think it's far more hilarious than anyone else does, but what else is new?

Oh, freshman year.  Sometimes I miss how carefree and irresponsible and wild and crazy we were.  Those were some pretty fun times.  Also, what the heck were we doing 90% of the time?  For example, this picture below. That actually happened.  Kills me.

"Just eatin' her spanish rice. How is it?"
"So good."

See, you don't even think that's funny, but it kills me every time.

so lately...

1. Rachy is the new substitute ward chorister.  She's so talented.
2. Contemplating how we will create sno cone carriers. "They're like baby carriers, except for sno cones."
3. Everyone was using their electronics, but Rachy was just organizing her Mike'n'Ikes.
                                            4. Danielle practices her leaning to impress Dillon.

5. I forgot to take a pic of the sno cone right after I got it, but I can tell you this much: 'twas delicious. Strawberry Kiwi was the flavor choice of the day!
6. Found this pin while cleaning my room.  Totes wore it on my backpack for the better part of two years with no shame because I totes love that girl.
7. Last Jazz game of the season. Not a very happy ending.
8.  Such the delicious shortbread.  My homegirl Danielle made them and I shaped them.  Teamwork at its finest.

9. I totes can't even get my mouth around the bottom end of the cup, but this girl has got straight up talent.
10. Another sno cone!  Apple and mango were the flavors of choice and this guy was consumed at the ward soccer game and shared with more than one member of the team. Is that gross?
11. Bees game with Brenda.  Excellent seats (11th row!) and only mildly drunk and obnoxious people behind us. Go Bees!
12.  "I look like a coked out billy bob teeth."-Danielle.

13. My favorite juice as a mother's day gift from Danielle?  How neat is that?!
14. Our FHE brother showed us a new sno cone shack.  Free cream!
15.  A scooter ride led us to Danielle's favorite tree!
16.  The vending machines on campus don't have bagels anymore.  Totes not cool, especially on the days when I wake up late and don't have time for breakfast.

That's right, folks.  I'm an instagrammer.  And yes, there isn't a single picture of me.  I'm still working on that.

tuesday letters on a wednesday.

i believe this is called "candid moments" by dillon manwaring. don't you think he captured lacey's lazy eyes, danielle's knee pop, the part in my hair, and martha's creepy hand on the shoulder just perfectly?

dear lacey, tonight is your last night here and we're super bummed. you're a pretty neat lady and an excellent replacement for katie (although no one can ever replace nugget, our protector).   we couldn't have had anyone better than you.  I guess this means we don't have to save anything for tuesday and maybe you don't look like a witch after all.   you had better hang out with us one MILLION times next year.

dear finals, you're basically done.  I just need to look over that take home final tomorrow and then submit you and be done with russian regression analysis forever!! (or at least until next year).

dear chemistry professors, it's absurd how much I enjoy hanging out with you guys. you're definitely one of the top five reasons I'm super glad I'm not graduating.

dear landlord, we cleaned the apartment for you today.  I hope that means you'll fix the fifty problems that have been around for months and I also hope when you say you're bringing us new furniture, it isn't just "new to us" furniture.  I mean, the 40-year-old "new" lamps you brought as last summer are cool, but...

dear school year, as cool as it is that you're over, I'm super sad you're taking away all of my graduating friends.  I don't know how I feel about that.

dear sunshine, you seem to keep getting stage fright.  stop hiding behind those rain clouds every day and just show yourself already!

dear st. george, let's hang out this weekend.  I hear the sun isn't afraid of you.

dear summer, let's do this.

Monday, April 16, 2012

i didn't even have to save them for tuesday.

So, as usual, I love my roommates.  They're pretty neat.  Yesterday, as we were all getting ready for church and since we were all there (thank you, Lace Face) and awake (thank you, Danielle), I suggested we take a roommate picture today, since I'm pretty sure no photograph exists that includes all four of us.

Anyway, after much confusion in which Danielle and I had miscommunicated (apparently that's not actually a word??? I had no idea.) as to what exactly a roommate picture was, and after preparing a seven course meal and after not being able to gather just the four of us for a picture for at least an hour, we finally succeed in photographing the current residents of this apartment.  Please enjoy the following pictures that were taken as we attempted to gather all of us in the same area:

And while yes, it would have been nice to have my family picture that is on the door and last month's utility payment in the background of our photos, we choose to go with a slightly different setup.

What's that? You think those last three pictures all look exactly the same?  Oh, that's because they basically are.  I just really like them all, just like I really like all my roommates.

tuesday letters {to my homies}

Dear Lacey Bra Baugh, my favorite thing is when the Doc and I yell to you from the balcony when you’re walking home from school.  You always pretend you don’t know us, but we know you love it.

Dear Doc, remember when we made moose shirts this weekend?  I love doing things like that with you and I can't wait for softball season!  By the way, do you know who spray painted Randy’s expensive rug?

Dear Spanky Spank, totes stoked to start having (at least) weekly lunches with you soon. I’ll bring my sun hat, you bring the cookies.

Dear Maff, I watched you make that fruit salad last night and was a little bummed you weren’t wearing a hairnet.  I’m reporting you to the appropriate Pen Court authorities.

Dear Katie Cutler, your letters from the mission seriously kill me.  Even though you don’t think so, I know your Korean is coming along excellently and more importantly,  sa rang hae yo!

masterminding masterfully.

This weekend has been pretty neat.  I started it out by watching some Justin Bieber and Zac Efron/Taylor Swift vids, then we went to Texas Roadhouse for the first time in like six months (I swear, those rolls have got to have some sort of drug in them), watched a couple of movies (well, I slept through them), completed my Russian Regression Analysis midterm, went to stake conference, slept through another movie, and then the highlight of the weekend occurred!

Since it was only like 11, and since we're such social butterflies, Danielle and I decided to whip out the game Mastermind, The Challenging Game of Logic and Deduction.  I remembered how much I loved that game when I was a kid (except probably when I was playing my older brothers because they didn't like to create codes that were nice simple patterns like I felt they should be.)  Anyway, it appears that I've become a little better at the game and so I decide to challenge Danielle to a battle, so she could use her deduction skills!  And her logic skills!  And she could feel like she was in a fun math class again!  I mean, what could be better than that?!

Apparently, using logic to deduce things and pretend like she was in a math class again wasn't exactly her idea of a good time.

Weird, right?

But in the end, she started to get the hang of it and was actually turning into a pretty talented masterminder herself.  Well done, champ.

gadgets and gizmos.

(lacey's best picture ever...my b.)

Want to know something cool about my apartment (besides the awesome carpet)?  Our TV.

First of all, it was either a) stolen from BYU campus (judging by the "BYU #18) on the side or b) purchased at some auction when BYU realized the tv was older than it's founder.

Second of all, it doesn't have a power button.  That's right, the power button broke.  So, to deal with this, we used to have a little metal stick (I just realized that does not sound like it is going anywhere good).  We used that little guy to stick it into where the power button used to be and then push up to press whatever mechanism (I feel smart using that word) there is to turn the tv on.  Now, this was super successful for about 6 months or so, though it would sometimes take a couple minutes to move the metal stick at just the right angle so it would hit the button just right to turn it on.  But then I guess one day we got a little too excited and somehow jammed it so the tv was always on and could not be turned off.

Which brings me to the third awesome thing about our tv, which is the process of turning it on.  Te only way to do this is to plug and unplug the tv.  To do this, you must crawl under the entertainment center, pull the back wall of it forward a bit (that sounds confusing, so see the picture below) and then squeeze your hand in there to grab the cord of the tv.  Then you must blindly feel around until you get the plug into the outlet.  Then, wait about ten seconds and you may then enjoy the pleasures of modern technology!  (To turn the tv off, you must simply pull the plug out--much easier than plugging it in).

BONUS FEATURE: We don't own any remotes--not for the tv, the dvd player, or even our archaic vhs player (no idea where that came from).  Talk about too much exercise.  Girl can't just sit on the couch to watch a movie--what the heck is up with that?

So the moral of this story is that we have an AWESOME television.  If you ever want to have a really awesome movie experience, you're probably going to want to watch it at our place.  Just give me a ring, and we'll see if we can fit you into our schedule...but be sure to call in advance, because we tend to fill up fast!

I mean, look at this!  How jealous are you right now?

mama get a what-what, you know i represent.

Remember when Danielle bought a cake mix and then we made it just because I wanted to?

Well, here are just a few more reasons why she is so awesome on just a day to day basis:

1. She picks me up from the airport.
2. She's my fellow Razor Rider.
3. She takes me grocery shopping.
4. She quotes all the same youtube videos with me.
5. She likes turtles.
6. She scratches my head after horrible days in my regression analysis class (which means everyday)
7. She lets me nap on her shoulder.
8. She quits her job when I miss her.

That's all.

9. Oh, also.  She lets me post photos that she may deem unflattering (see above).

ditching church.

Every Sunday, I have church from 12:30 to 3:30 pm.  The above picture is from today at about 1:15 pm.  Now, I'm guessing that many of you are alarmed and afraid that I ditched church, but I'm here to set things straight because such a thing did not happen!

This morning things seemed to be going as they normally do: Martha, Lacey, and I all woke up and got ready for church (although Lacey had a few false alarms with when her meeting was, but fortunately, that was resolved and she will continue to go to church--phew!).  We were all ready to go a few minutes after noon, which was about the time Danielle rolled out of bed.  With just the right amount of time to spare, we headed on up to church.

We arrived after trekking up that monster hill and telling each that we looked like witches about 637 times (the honor code quiz has taught us well). We walked into Relief Society and settled in for an excellent lesson (even though Janice was going through some "dark days", i.e. we got a flier with Janice Kapp Perry on it that printed out a little too dark on the copier).  The lesson was going splendidly and we were nearing the end when suddenly with no warning the fire alarm started to go off!

I felt like I was in elementary school again as we crawled under the tables for safety.  Okay, no.  We didn't crawl under the tables, but we did link up buddy-style and head out the doors to wait until the alarm went off.  This is the part where Danielle and I really regretted our decision not to wear coats.  I mean, really regretted that decision.  It was at this point that we took the picture shown above, immediately after which we located the place that would give us the most sunlight.  But it was still supes cold.

After waiting for about twenty minutes for the alarming to go off, the bishop finally just told us to go home and come back in an hour for sacrament meeting when the alarm would hopefully be off.  Sooooo, we walked home and just sat around for an hour because it is Fast Sunday (what a cruel, cruel joke) and then headed back up.  It turns out the boiler was leaking steam or something, so it was super muggy in there when we got back.  In fact, I was playing the piano for the meeting and the piano keys has a nice layer of condensation on them. It was weird.

So, the moral of the story is, a) I don't ditch church, and b) always wear a coat to church because you just never know when you might end up being outside for an extended period of time.

That is all.

Doc's Orders.

"Erin thinks she has a pretty good chance of winning this blog giveaway. Should I tell her that she actually has no chance at all?"

"Kristie would like the gold leaf necklace. Kristie is not going to get it."

"I'm slangry. Or tangry. Or maybe even sluhangry."

"I changed the name of my blog to 'Waharay'.  I really just did that."

"I will be hungry for outlandish things and I will be hungry for them at outlandish times."

All of these things came out of the Doc's mouth in the last hour.  I know you don't even understand them at all, but that doesn't make it any less funny to me.  This doesn't even include the part where she was acting like a dying dinosaur the other day, which SERIOUSLY killed me. Funniest thing since she told Dillon she was waiting for a fax.

Doc's pretty neat.

...and I'm actually this white, if not whiter.  Thanks again, Dad.

the razor riders hit the big screen.

Real life conversation via text:

Stacy: Hey, so not that I'm a creative genius or anything, but can we please make a scootering video this weekend? How awesome would that be?
Danielle: Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes

Awesome...but then, of course, I forgot to iron out a few details (aka who would film the vid and where I would get a scooter from since my main rental source Jon Doxey had moved).  Fortunately, Danielle has connections to our main man Dillean Dillon who when asked if he was good at filming people scootering said, "Is that even a question?"

Then Jon Doxey was contacted and he was such a swell guy that he agreed to take his lunch break right then (which, by the way, it was 2:30 pm, so homeboy really needed to take that break).  He met Danielle at his apartment and then proceeded to GIVE her the scooter to give to ME for KEEPS!  Forever and ever, amen!  A purple scooter!  Mine!  Such an awesome gift!

So then, the important parts of picking out awesome outfits (neat tights, Doc!) and the less important part of showering took place and then we were ready to go!  We were super lucky we did it on that day because it was totes the last day before the snow came and everything was covered in slushy rain/snow nastiness. We headed up to the canyon to this awesome little place that had a nice scooter-appropriate path and the sun was perfect and Dillean is a creative genius and we are professional actresses and it was so fun!  When we got back, Dillean did all the work and threw the vid together in like an hour and all we had to do was make him dinner (using mostly his food, but still).  That's my kind of business deal.

And now, please sit back and enjoy this totally legit video about scootering and then tell me about how you can no longer resist the need to buy a razor scooter.  I totally understand.

not a joke!

Did you know that Katie Cutler left on her mission last week?  If you didn't, I'm pretty surprised since I thought she would have told every person she ever met about it (just like how she used to tell everyone that ever knew me that I was the Relief Society president...and when I say everyone, I mean everyone.)  Anyway, the point is that she left on her mission to South Korea last Wednesday and this apartment feels a little different now.

Now, don't get us wrong.  We supes love our new roommate Lacey, (mostly because her name rhymes with mine) but we are totes missing our main man Katie Cut! Luh!

We've been missing all the ridiculous and hilarious and ridiculously hilarious things that girl would say.  We miss the puns and the stupid jokes.  We miss her having "stage fright" and we miss her retelling the story of the first time she met our landlord (that story will never cease to amuse me).  We miss her stink face and her hot pants (everyone has a pair of hot pants, duh).  We miss her painting of Nugget (he would protect us!) and we miss her making us brownies or baked oatmeal.  We miss when she decided to use my brownie mix as her own and we miss her laugh. We miss her puns and we miss the piles of hair that she used to shed on every square inch of the apartment.

We miss how genuinely nice she was to everyone.  We miss the "judge-free zone" she tried so hard to make.  We miss how complimentary she was.  We miss our example of a super-hard worker and we miss how inspirational she was.

We miss Katie Cutler.  She's the best.................looking!

And of course, if Katie were here, she'd want a post that was dedicated to her to also have a link to all other posts about her, so here it is.  Go ahead and read up on her past adventures.

Also, I have no idea where this picture came from, but I found it amusing so I'm using it.

pen rose eight tea juan.

Remember these cool cats?  These are my fabulous freshman roommates.

A few weeks ago, we were able to get all the freshman roommates together for a fabulous evening.  It took us so long to plan an evening when we could actually all be there, it was ridiculous.

We all gathered at Kelli and Rob's place (above the mortuary!).  All the husbands came and we just sat around and chatted for nearly 3 hours!  As we were leaving, I couldn't believe that it had been that long--time had flown by.  We literally just sat around and talked and talked and talked.  The husbands talked about all the funny things that the wives did and we talked about all the hilarious things that happened freshman year.  I'm pretty sure there was an entire half hour dedicated to all the ridiculous things Ricky had done (spill food coloring in the fridge, put a boiling pot of water on the kitchen floor, put the bathroom faucet on backwards, slept in her clothes, the list goes on and on).

Freshman year was such a fun year.  I swear, somehow we had time to hang out with each other all the time and school never really seemed to get in the way.  We were the best of friends (even if it did take me and Keech a good three months to be able to have a casual conversation with each other--what was up with that?).  I never stayed up as late and as often as I did that year.  I was having the time of my life.

It was so fun to be with them again...it was just like old times.  We could talk and talk for hours without even noticing that time had passed.  It was also a little strange to be back together again, this time most had husbands with them.  It's fun to see where we've all been over the past few years, and where we're headed. Rob and Kelli will be headed off to dental school next year, Ricky will be having a baby! in May, the rest of us will still be around for another year (what?  the five year plan?!  Who does that??)

I hope that we get together again before Rob and Kelli move, but it's still a little weird to think about how we'll all be moving our separate ways sooner than we'd like.  It won't be the same as it was or is, and even though that's alright and I know it will be fine, it's still a little sad to think about.  Sometimes I super don't want to move past this stage of my life where I can see these girls almost as often as I'd like.

As long as I can always stay in contact with them, I'll be alright (that means no moving to third world countries or taking up the Amish lifestyle, ya hear?)

Though I may never be "pregnant smashed" again or pranked with saran wrap on the toilet during a time of need! or attend another pet funeral (RIP Lucy and Maybe and Gupta and Gurkin), I'll still have those hilarious memories.  Plus, I can make my own delectables now and I still have one of the hair clips that I stole from Rick, so I can remember her every time I use it, right?

Love these girls.

"Oh, heeeey!"

please look at robert lindeman. holy cow, i'm dying.

Congratulations, we have one good picture of all of us...and even then, I'm squatting in the back. Why do photographers always make me squat?!??
