Stay Stay Stay Music Video!

For the record, two of three times I wrote "stay" in the title, it came out Stacy. It reminds me of that one time I was at work and was needing to name all these different files "Lecture 1", "Lecture 2", etc. and almost every time they came out "LeCture" or "LeChture" because of my last name. It was rough.

Anyway, as many of you may already be aware, the LeCheminant Family children recently came out with their 5th Annual Music video. Yes, my friends, we've been doing this for five years. And it's pretty awesome and really fun. It's also really fun to see how much we've grown in the years since the first music video (especially Jake! He was so much shorter than us in the first one!). We've improved over the years and I would say that we've gotten better and better every year except there was that third year when something terrible happened and I sometimes wish we could burn that music video from our thoughts because it's just sad.  But you live and learn, am I right?  I'm right.

You might also remember that our video from last year has almost 11,000 views. You're probably thinking, "Wow! They must have some incredible acting! And amazing filming skills!" And you would be 100% right, but I suppose it's only fair for me to mention that we used a Taylor Swift song last year and while that would be enough reason to suggest why we had so many views (I mean, come on! It's Taylor!) I suppose I should also mention that the real Taylor Swift came out with a music video to the same song as us just a few weeks after we posted ours. In the days leading up to when she was scheduled to release her music video and in the days after, the views of our video skyrocketed and we were feeling pretty awesome.

This year we had kind of a hard time picking a song. It just seemed like nothing particularly catchy came out this last year that would be good for us to dance to. So, we resorted to what all music video makers go to and that would be Taylor Swift, because duh. No explanation needed. So yes, we used another song from her album that came out about a year ago, but we're just hoping she releases a music video for it in about two weeks. After that, you'll be able to see just how popular we really are.

And if you're looking for just a little bit more fun (I mean, who isn't?), then feel free to check out these videos from years past. Also, please don't watch the one from the third year. It's just sad.

Year One: Me and My Gang
Year Two: Ain't No Particular Way
Year Three: I'm a Believer
Year Four: 22

shamwow!!!

In light of the fact that we recently had the Grammys or the Oscars or something like that (I can never remember), I figured it was a perfect time to share the following story:

During my freshman year of college, my ward (church congregation) did this thing where smaller groups each made a video and then we had the VMA's (Video Music Awards) where each video was presented. At this point, I feel it is appropriate to mention that the picture shown above is of me, Keech, and Rach at said VMA's.  And yes, that's right. Keisha is wearing the largest leopard print thing I've ever seen.  But more importantly, Rachel wore tie-dye overall shorts to the event and yes, I encouraged it.  So judge me. But mostly judge her.

Our group decided to do this thing where we basically just pretended like we were all fighting over the t.v. remote and so the t.v. that we were supposedly watching kept changing channels and on each channel was a different show or commercial that we made.  The video was supposed to be all those different shows or commercials.  I remember we did a clip about the Bachelorette, Power Rangers, 24, the "Single Ladies" dance and a bunch of other weird stuff.  But I had a favorite clip.  It was a commercial featuring the one and only Rachel "Manning the Harpoon" Alford.  In this clip, she advertises the highly sought after SHAMWOW.  That's right. A SHAMWOW.  Feast your eyes on this, foolzz:

Seriously, I kid you not when I say this goes down in my top five favorite things featuring Rachel ever caught on film...other items on the list include:
  1. Rach dancing with a wall
  2. Rach and I both grabbing a towel at the same time and knocking everything off of our desk and then her ending up in the closet...sounds suspicious...
  3. kicking cones in a parking lot
  4. pouring water on Rach in the shower
  5. Rach dancing with a hairbrush and a can of holiday popcorn to the song "Get Silly"
  6. our "You Belong with Me" music video
  7. her saying "Freshman Yeeeeeear" in a video
  8. Rach and Karie pregnant smashing me
  9. Rach and I both filming each other in our bedroom trying to "give the viewer multiple perspectives of the event"
  10. Rach lint rolling me
  11. our "Love Me Tender" music vid
  12. our Pimple Juice video
  13. Rach's jump roping/hula-hooping dress rehearsal routine
  14. Rach dancing to "Party in the U.S.A." in the hospital parking lot
  15. Rach and I in a documentary of REAL LIFE a.k.a the drive to Ogden, Utah and back
  16. Rach and I making banana chocolate chip muffins (which was actually filmed when we were kind of annoyed with each other and so there is zero laughing in it which actually just makes it funnier to me)
  17. Rach singing 'Sexy Can I' in the bathroom
  18. Rach's superior acting as a guardian angel in a movie where she was persuading me not to go on a date with a math nerd
  19. our educational and entirely factual Thanksgiving video
  20. Rach and I in the random tandem experience
  21. anything involving Rachel modeling which is like a million vids
  22. Rachel dancing to Stephen playing the violin
  23. Rach and I in "Thug Story"
  24. Rach doing interpretive dancing to a variety of Miley Cyrus songs.
So it looks like my top five consists of more than five...just go with it.

But seriously, this one is for reals in my top five.  Favorite line? "Better than any towel or...pAper towel."  Ahhahaha, the way her voice goes up on the first syllable of 'paper' and the fact that she said "towel" and THEN said "paper towel".  I mean, seriously.  The only thing stronger than a towel would be a paper towel, didn't you know?  Also, my other favorite part is pretty much any time she says Shamwow.  Gosh, it kills me. Girl was a natural born actress, not a joke.

Just another reason why Rachel "Manning the Harpoon" Alford is one of the number one best things that has ever happened to me.  Totes not joking even a little bit.

nice bee pun, adrian.

first of all, girl has got hops.

second of all, today is the jelly bean's birthday!  And for those of you who don't know who the jelly bean is, well dang it.  It's my sister, Jalyn.  And if you don't know Jalyn, you don't know real happiness because girl is COOL.  She is probably my favorite person to quote movies/shows/youtube videos with, but mostly because she's good at quoting them and I'm good at laughing about them.  Seriously though, she remembers every line from every movie.  It's wild. In fact, I'd say on average, about 50% of our texting conversations begin with a movie quote.  Stay classy.

A few of my favorites:

"Get off the grass!"
"fdjk ewiop fjqipfd qurifjdk reiv!"
(Princess Diaries)

"Can I borrow your stapler?"
"No. You. May. Not...because the guys in the first scene already took it."
(this is actually a remixed version of a quote from The Man Who Knew Too Little)

"Nice bee pun, Adrian."
"Thank you, Blake."
"You're welcome, Adrian."
"Okay."
(Lockout Professionals)

"Let me help you, frail old man."
(Lockout Professionals)

"No. I.D."
"No idea?"
"NO! I.D.!!"
"No idea."
(Monk)

"I'm daaaaaancing in the kitchen!!! With a boooooowwwl full of chicken!"
(What About Bob?)

"They fear my shoshone ways."
(Little House on the Prairie)

Anyway, she's just my favorite and it's always funny when she's around because I always think she is funny and she always thinks I'm funny (right?) and it's just perfect.  I am one million going to miss her when she leave on her mission in less than TWO MONTHS (what the cray cray?) and like I've said before, I already miss her one billion at work because she used to work in the same office as me and man, were those the best times ever. (Note: that was a run-on sentence).  She's the smartest, nicest, hippest, hardworkingest, most exercisingist sister ever and I love her more than I fear her Shoshone ways (Note: I just used a lot of fake words in that sentence).

Anyway, Happy Birthday, Jelly Bean!

Blake Griffin.  Dang it, I love him.  But I love Jalyn more.

P.S. I feel bad that I don't blog about every family member's birthday.  Honestly, you just have to catch me on a day that I really don't want to be doing homework.  Like today, for example.  I'm the worst!

blake griffin's got nothin' on me.

Earlier today, my sister Jalyn turned to me and said, "Did you know that Blake Griffin is less than a year older than you?"

It turns out I did not know that.  It also turns out that learning that was a little depressing.  I mean, srsly.  In the past few years, homeboy was named Rookie of the Year and Slam Dunk Champion. Homeboy played in multiple All-Star games and rumor has it that homeboy just signed a five-year contract worth $95 million dollars.

So what?  I mean, look at what I've done! I think I used to be able to play the game Rook and I can slam dunk my cookies in milk. My mom thinks I'm an all-star and I can count to 95, so we've basically accomplished the same things, right?  Sheesh.

So I mean, yeah.  Kid might be able to say that he's made something more of himself than I have, but what I have to say to that is, "Has Blake Griffin ever made conversation cookies or thrown bottles of fire down a mine shaft?"  I mean, I'm just. sayin'.

But it turns out I'm actually a huge fan of the guy.  I mean, he only starred in my favorite commercial of the NBA Playoffs, nbd. But seriously. That stance! That stick! That face!  It kills me!

Oh, and since we're on the topic of commercials, I should probably just share this one with you guys again.

Oh, and since we're looking up my favorite things on youtube (and because it was my main man HP's birthday yesterday), I might as well show you this. (Her face after she says it!  I die!)

Oh, and since it is now official that this blog post has no chance for success, I figure there is no better time than now for me to share this with you. (I cannot watch this without dying in awe of Rachel's one million amazing acting skills.  No, but really.  Best. Actress. Ever.)

I don't even know why this whole thing just happened.  I should stop now.

But the moral of the story is I'm alright with Blake Griffin having more money than me and I like stupid videos and the STREETS! are where it's at and I think my acting skills may have deteriorated in the 3+ years since that music video was made. I can tell you're all very sad to hear that.

Also, that link to one of my older blog posts?  My writing was weird back then.  Oh, wait.  It's still weird?  Oh, that's cray.

Okay, I'm really done now.

STREETS!

Here is a commercial that was seriously made for Danielle and me.  A huge thank you to Aaron (who is now officially a dad--yee!) for knowing that I would love it and for recommending I watch it asap.

This video will most likely change your life.  Seriously, I've watched it like 4578923 times and I still think it's hilarious (basically the same situation as when I saw this video).  In fact, don't just watch it once.  You have to watch it at least twice, because it gets exponentially funnier with every additional view, I swear.

"I can't turn my back on the streets, Annie. Streets!"

you're welcome.

this is really a post about how awesome danielle is.

Last week, I saw a picture of a pink double-layered cake and said, "I want that."

Now, you should all know that Danielle is awesome. SOOOOO AWESOME.  But my friends, last week she took it up a notch by remembering my request for that double-layered cake and my love for rainbow chip frosting by buying a cake mix AND rainbow chip frosting AND breaking out her 9-inch round pans so we could make previously desired, rainbow chip frosted, double-layered cake.

I'm telling you guys, homegirl is awesome.

On Saturday, we decided to build the cake.  I made the batter and put it in the pans and then in the oven, but then Danielle did the rest. (I repeat, she is SOOOO AWESOME!!).  When it came out of the oven and had finished cooling, she did all the scraping and hard stuff to get the cakes out of the pans and then she frosted it, too!  Have I mentioned how AWESOME she is?

While she was frosting the cake, I mentioned that I really wanted to write something on the top and since it was no one's birthday, we just decided to dedicate it to our main man, Harry P.

**side note: posting the above picture on facebook stressed a lot of people out...we were repeatedly reminded of the fact that Harry Potter's birthday isn't until July (which, by the way, we totes knew.  Please, we are true fans).  But at the same time, we got some pretty good comments suggesting that we do things like put a preserving charm on it so that it'll last until Harry's actual birthday.

Anyway, Danielle let me have the honors of writing the words on top (we cut a pretty small hole so as not to have it look like a 5-year-old did it, but because we did that, the writing of the words was pretty slow business).

All and all, it was the most successful and delightful thing that has happened to me since Danielle told Dillon she was sending him a fax (which seriously killed me).  I couldn't stop telling her how all my dreams had come true in the creation of that cake because it was just sooooo perfect!

Also, to prove how awesome it is, I even videotaped making it for all to see.

And just remember, DANIELLE IS AWESOME.

Also, bonus feature: Some quality quotes that occurred during the making of this film can be found below:

S: How’s it going, Danielle? Stressful?
D: Yeah, I feel like I’m trying to diffuse a bomb.

S: You are very good. You are very talented.
D: I’m good at eating.

S: Mmm, chocolate frosting. …oops, chocolate cardigan.

S: You are doing so good with that chocolate frosting. I can’t wait to see you on rainbow chip level.

S: Danielle builds a cake.
D: First, you must take the chicken…!

D: Hey, how’s it going, Devon, my lil croissant?  I just combined two movies right there.

S: Wow, I’m super glad I’m good at shaking the camera and stuff.
D: It’s okay. It makes it look like I’m workin’ through an earthquake or somethin’. ‘Look at that dedication.’

D (In a borderline Kip voice): My favorite technique is the swirl. It gives a nice frothy look. It gives the illusion that your cake is moving. …ready to JUMP into your belly. It’s sayin, ‘Come get me.’ It’s like a stormy sea being tossed.

M: Oh my gosh, you’re so domestic.
D: No, I just like to eat cake.

D: The top needs a little more…so it’s a little creamier…swoopy swoop, swoop swoopy swoop.

Are you the girl from Harry Pawwter?

and when I say I could watch this 15 times a day without tiring, I'm being completely serious.

Her face after she says it just kills me.

KILLS ME.  Every single time.
