tuesday letters on a wednesday.

i believe this is called "candid moments" by dillon manwaring. don't you think he captured lacey's lazy eyes, danielle's knee pop, the part in my hair, and martha's creepy hand on the shoulder just perfectly?

dear lacey, tonight is your last night here and we're super bummed. you're a pretty neat lady and an excellent replacement for katie (although no one can ever replace nugget, our protector).   we couldn't have had anyone better than you.  I guess this means we don't have to save anything for tuesday and maybe you don't look like a witch after all.   you had better hang out with us one MILLION times next year.

dear finals, you're basically done.  I just need to look over that take home final tomorrow and then submit you and be done with russian regression analysis forever!! (or at least until next year).

dear chemistry professors, it's absurd how much I enjoy hanging out with you guys. you're definitely one of the top five reasons I'm super glad I'm not graduating.

dear landlord, we cleaned the apartment for you today.  I hope that means you'll fix the fifty problems that have been around for months and I also hope when you say you're bringing us new furniture, it isn't just "new to us" furniture.  I mean, the 40-year-old "new" lamps you brought as last summer are cool, but...

dear school year, as cool as it is that you're over, I'm super sad you're taking away all of my graduating friends.  I don't know how I feel about that.

dear sunshine, you seem to keep getting stage fright.  stop hiding behind those rain clouds every day and just show yourself already!

dear st. george, let's hang out this weekend.  I hear the sun isn't afraid of you.

dear summer, let's do this.

i didn't even have to save them for tuesday.

So, as usual, I love my roommates.  They're pretty neat.  Yesterday, as we were all getting ready for church and since we were all there (thank you, Lace Face) and awake (thank you, Danielle), I suggested we take a roommate picture today, since I'm pretty sure no photograph exists that includes all four of us.

Anyway, after much confusion in which Danielle and I had miscommunicated (apparently that's not actually a word??? I had no idea.) as to what exactly a roommate picture was, and after preparing a seven course meal and after not being able to gather just the four of us for a picture for at least an hour, we finally succeed in photographing the current residents of this apartment.  Please enjoy the following pictures that were taken as we attempted to gather all of us in the same area:

And while yes, it would have been nice to have my family picture that is on the door and last month's utility payment in the background of our photos, we choose to go with a slightly different setup.

What's that? You think those last three pictures all look exactly the same?  Oh, that's because they basically are.  I just really like them all, just like I really like all my roommates.

tuesday letters {to my homies}

Dear Lacey Bra Baugh, my favorite thing is when the Doc and I yell to you from the balcony when you’re walking home from school.  You always pretend you don’t know us, but we know you love it.

Dear Doc, remember when we made moose shirts this weekend?  I love doing things like that with you and I can't wait for softball season!  By the way, do you know who spray painted Randy’s expensive rug?

Dear Spanky Spank, totes stoked to start having (at least) weekly lunches with you soon. I’ll bring my sun hat, you bring the cookies.

Dear Maff, I watched you make that fruit salad last night and was a little bummed you weren’t wearing a hairnet.  I’m reporting you to the appropriate Pen Court authorities.

Dear Katie Cutler, your letters from the mission seriously kill me.  Even though you don’t think so, I know your Korean is coming along excellently and more importantly,  sa rang hae yo!

tuesday letters.

dear april 19, you are supposed to be my graduation day...a mere 37 days away.  Good thing I'm on the 5 year plan or I might be having an identity crisis--how has time gone by so fast??

dear naps, I'm pretty sure I've taken more of you in the past two weeks than I have in the past two years. What the heck?  I've found that this is not a particularly effective study tool.

dear winter, you didn't really happen this year, which is strange because I was actually prepared to enjoy you this time.  Oh well, I'm over it. Plus, this 60 degree weather we've been having this week is pretty rad.

dear pi night, you are tomorrow. Everyone should come to the pie night we're having downstairs! (there's even going to be a jumbleberry pie! If you don't know what that is, that's even more reason to come!)

dear tolkein reading that I must do for class, why the heck do you exist?  I never ever thought I'd see the day when I of all people would be reading some of Lord of the Rings.  I did not sign up for this.

dear april 19, I also just realized that you mark the day that summer begins. SOOOOO STOKED.

dear summer, I look forward to celebrating you by eating hundreds of sno cones and scootering every single day during your existence.

dear little brother, supes stoked for you to come visit!

idea for this post came from this girl.

gadgets and gizmos.

(lacey's best picture ever...my b.)

Want to know something cool about my apartment (besides the awesome carpet)?  Our TV.

First of all, it was either a) stolen from BYU campus (judging by the "BYU #18) on the side or b) purchased at some auction when BYU realized the tv was older than it's founder.

Second of all, it doesn't have a power button.  That's right, the power button broke.  So, to deal with this, we used to have a little metal stick (I just realized that does not sound like it is going anywhere good).  We used that little guy to stick it into where the power button used to be and then push up to press whatever mechanism (I feel smart using that word) there is to turn the tv on.  Now, this was super successful for about 6 months or so, though it would sometimes take a couple minutes to move the metal stick at just the right angle so it would hit the button just right to turn it on.  But then I guess one day we got a little too excited and somehow jammed it so the tv was always on and could not be turned off.

Which brings me to the third awesome thing about our tv, which is the process of turning it on.  Te only way to do this is to plug and unplug the tv.  To do this, you must crawl under the entertainment center, pull the back wall of it forward a bit (that sounds confusing, so see the picture below) and then squeeze your hand in there to grab the cord of the tv.  Then you must blindly feel around until you get the plug into the outlet.  Then, wait about ten seconds and you may then enjoy the pleasures of modern technology!  (To turn the tv off, you must simply pull the plug out--much easier than plugging it in).

BONUS FEATURE: We don't own any remotes--not for the tv, the dvd player, or even our archaic vhs player (no idea where that came from).  Talk about too much exercise.  Girl can't just sit on the couch to watch a movie--what the heck is up with that?

So the moral of this story is that we have an AWESOME television.  If you ever want to have a really awesome movie experience, you're probably going to want to watch it at our place.  Just give me a ring, and we'll see if we can fit you into our schedule...but be sure to call in advance, because we tend to fill up fast!

I mean, look at this!  How jealous are you right now?

ditching church.

Every Sunday, I have church from 12:30 to 3:30 pm.  The above picture is from today at about 1:15 pm.  Now, I'm guessing that many of you are alarmed and afraid that I ditched church, but I'm here to set things straight because such a thing did not happen!

This morning things seemed to be going as they normally do: Martha, Lacey, and I all woke up and got ready for church (although Lacey had a few false alarms with when her meeting was, but fortunately, that was resolved and she will continue to go to church--phew!).  We were all ready to go a few minutes after noon, which was about the time Danielle rolled out of bed.  With just the right amount of time to spare, we headed on up to church.

We arrived after trekking up that monster hill and telling each that we looked like witches about 637 times (the honor code quiz has taught us well). We walked into Relief Society and settled in for an excellent lesson (even though Janice was going through some "dark days", i.e. we got a flier with Janice Kapp Perry on it that printed out a little too dark on the copier).  The lesson was going splendidly and we were nearing the end when suddenly with no warning the fire alarm started to go off!

I felt like I was in elementary school again as we crawled under the tables for safety.  Okay, no.  We didn't crawl under the tables, but we did link up buddy-style and head out the doors to wait until the alarm went off.  This is the part where Danielle and I really regretted our decision not to wear coats.  I mean, really regretted that decision.  It was at this point that we took the picture shown above, immediately after which we located the place that would give us the most sunlight.  But it was still supes cold.

After waiting for about twenty minutes for the alarming to go off, the bishop finally just told us to go home and come back in an hour for sacrament meeting when the alarm would hopefully be off.  Sooooo, we walked home and just sat around for an hour because it is Fast Sunday (what a cruel, cruel joke) and then headed back up.  It turns out the boiler was leaking steam or something, so it was super muggy in there when we got back.  In fact, I was playing the piano for the meeting and the piano keys has a nice layer of condensation on them. It was weird.

So, the moral of the story is, a) I don't ditch church, and b) always wear a coat to church because you just never know when you might end up being outside for an extended period of time.

That is all.
