YOLO, baby.

So remember how I wrote this slightly embarrassing post about Rachel?  Well, I realized that I probably blog about hilariously dumb things that she does a little too much and so I thought it was only fair if I tell a somewhat embarrassing story about myself today.  I think this officially makes me a pretty good friend because I can think of so many embarrassing stories about Rach that I could be telling instead, but alas.  You're worth this.

It was my freshman year and we had Stake Conference, which is when about ten congregations meet together for a meeting together (oh my gosh, can you please read that sentence again because instead of explaining what Stake Conference is, I actually just repeated myself. I suck).  I had decided to wear a skirt that was fairly flowy and not too constricting that had about a million buttons that buttoned all the way up the front.  Anyway, as me and my roommates walked in, I was the first one to walk down the row that we were going to sit in.  But then my roommates decided they wanted to sit one row closer to the front.

But here's the thing. I had already committed myself to that row, you guys!  I had already taken at least 9 steps into that row and I wasn't about to just go 9 steps back only to have to go another 9 steps into the next row.  I shouldn't have to do all that extra work. I mean, I'm worth more than that.

So the obvious solution to this dilemma was to simply jump over that row of chairs.

(This is the part where I should say YOLO, right?)

I can tell you're concerned that I was in church and I was jumping over a pew.  But here's the thing: since it was a bigger meeting than normal, we were meeting in the Smith Fieldhouse (a huge gym), and they have slightly stadium seating, so it wasn't like I was going to jump up and over a pew or anything. This makes it so much better, right?

And so I hopped, as ladylike as ever, just like any normal person would do. Pop-pop-pop-pop! I heard that sound and at first I couldn't figure out where it was coming from.  But then I looked down and to my horror I saw that the buttons from my skirt had popped off and were just now bouncing and  landing on the ground. Oh crap, was all I could think as I realized that my skirt that had once buttoned ALL the way up the front now had only TWO buttons remaining. TWO, you guys.  TWO BUTTONS LEFT.  Every other button was now taunting me from the ground, immediately reminding me that I had made a horrible choice by jumping over the chairs. An incredibly, unbelievably terrible choice because now I stood there, essentially flashing hundreds of other people.  Truly one of the more proud moments of my life.

As my roommates (Rachel included) laughed hysterically at my predicament (because let's be honest, it was pretty funny and I mean, at least those two buttons were still attached so I was at least mildly decent), I immediately sat down and tried to figure out what I should do.  I eventually figured that I should turn the skirt so that my newly-created, ever-so-scandalous slit would go up the side of my leg instead of straight up the front.  Then I collected bobby pins from all my roommates and attempted to use them to keep my skirt together, but mostly I just had a death grip on my skirt for the rest of the night.

Needless to say, I haven't done a whole lot of row-hopping since then.

i'm worth it.

So the other day I was hanging out with my friend Allison and her roommate.  Allison's roommate was telling us about how when she orders stuff online, she always fills out those little cards that you use when you're sending the item as a gift to someone else. You know, so you can say a short message like, "Congrats!" or "Happy Birthday!" or "We wish you the best in your marriage. Love, Betty and Jim."  You know, those cards.  Anyway, when Allison's roommate buys stuff online, she writes cards to herself that say stuff like, "You deserve it!" or "You are great!" or "You're worth it!"  I kind of love it.  So I'm stealing it.

Except that I've decided that I don't need a package to tell myself I'm worth it.  I've found that it can basically be used in pretty much any situation.  For example, when someone suggested that I should get a raise, I said, "I know. I'm worth it."  When Dr. Call gave me two full plates of cookies and brownies today and told me not to get too crazy and that he'd give me more when I ran out, I was like, "Don't worry. I will. I'm worth it." (I should write a post about that whole incident later).  When a professor told me, "I feel like I should be impressing you with how fast I was able to find that cardstock", I was like, "I know. I'm worth it." When another professor was like, "I don't want to keep scaring you, but I don't know if I'll be able to give you advance warning every time I come into the office" I said, "You can do it. I'm worth it."

It can also be used to justify what might otherwise be considered a socially unwise decision.  For example, when I ate two cookie and a brownie today...and then also two pieces of pie, all I had to do was say to myself, "You're worth it." and then I felt awesome.  When I bought myself a bagel even though I had already eaten breakfast, again all I had to do was say "You're worth it" and then any sense of guilt was erased from my conscience.  Staying in my workout clothes all evening? "I'm worth it."  Avoiding cleaning the kitchen for as long as humanly possible? "I'm worth it."  Sleeping in an extra 20 minutes and not having time to do my hair? "I'm so worth it."  Procrastinating homework so I can visit a friend? "I'm totes worth it."  Blogging instead of sleeping? "I'm worth it."

I mean, seriously guys. This is the most fabulous strategy.  How else do you think I would be able to justify the fact that I went to Jamba Juice FOUR times this week?

scary story.

Today while I was at work, I had to go up to the second floor, so I headed to the stairwell and started walking up.  It's one of those loud and echo-y stairwells where every sound is loud and exaggerated.  I walked up the stairs thinking about who even knows what but I was straight up in my own world. As I got to the second floor landing, I grabbed the door handle while looking to my right up the next flight of stairs.  As I did so, the door suddenly flew open, which made the loudest and screechiest and echo-i-est sound and SERIOUSLY scared me out of my mind.  I looked toward the door and immediately did that thing where I covered my eyes and jumped backward.  I hit the wall and almost tripped up the stairs.  And I did all of this before I could even recognize that the person coming out of the door was Dr. G.

"You scared me so bad!! Why?!! Why does this happen to me?!"

And instead of an apology, all I got was about 7 years of laughter from that guy.  He is the best and the worst all at the same time, it just kills me.  Oh, but he was loving it.

He laughed and laughed and laughed at me.
I glared and glared and glared at him.

He told me he would apologize, but it was just too funny and plus he'd "sent me through the roof" so many times before that an apology just wasn't worth the time.

It was the most ridiculous thing.  He said he'd promise to announce his presence whenever he came within 20 feet of the office door so that I could have time to mentally prepare myself for his presence.  I swear, I need like a sensor or something that beeps whenever someone comes within 20 feet of me, NOT A JOKE.

Once we got back to my desk and we had explained to Sue what had happened and how Dr. G. needed to stop scaring me or I was going to have a heart attack, he finally headed out of the office.  At about that time, Dr. B walked in and Dr. G. told her she needed to announce her presence before entering so as to keep me from going crazy.  After I told her about how jumpy I am, she told me about how she totally is too, and how she literally screamed in a movie theater recently while on a date.  The best part is that it was a kid's movie.

Then she tried to console my saying that because I'm so jumpy, it probably means that my "neurons are easily excitable...so that means you're just really smart."

And that my friends, is why working in the Chem Dept is the best thing ever.  We scare each other and then we talk about neurons and stuff.  Seriously. Best. place. ever.

------------
p.s. the above picture if from my freshman year when I walked out of the bathroom only to be pregnant smashed by Rach and Karie. So frightening.
p.p.s can we all please take a minute to remember another interaction I had with Dr. G?
Dr. G: "Hey Stace, do you want a donut?"
Me: "Um, duh! Yes!"
Dr. G: "I would offer you two, but we all know you'd be sugar high as a kite, so I'm not going to do that."
ha. love that guy.

gum surgery and nail polish.

I have gum surgery in an hour so I had to take this pill to help my body relax or something and now I'm starting to feel tired and my limbs don't move as fast and I'm struggling to type.  But I don't know if I can attribute that entirely to the meds.

Speaking of meds, I have to take a pill every six hours, which includes midnight and 6 am.  I just want to say that waking up twice during the night (because yes, I am definitely in bed before midnight and it's amazing) is rough.  Plus, it's not like I just pop the pill.  I also have to eat something.  So last night I put some bread in a ziploc bag and then sat up and ate it when I took my pill.  I just want to say that eating bread in my bed in the dark is just a weird thing.  Moving on...

So I have this surgery in an hour and I'm sure it will go over fine but I do hope I fall asleep because they're going to be cutting up my gums and the roof of my mouth and then I'm going to have to wear this weird retainer thing because there will be stitches and flopping skin and stuff and maybe I should have warned you that this paragraph was going to be gross?

I don't know where this post is going but I just want to share two more things.  I wrote a letter to my sister today who has been in the MTC for a week now.  I keep thinking about texting her but then I remember I can't because she's a missionary.  I even thought about texting her to ask about how life at the MTC is going.  That was a low point.  Anyway, I wrote her this letter and as I was rereading it after I sent it, I was like, wow.  This is complete nonsense and yet these are the most important things that have happened to me lately.  For example, please read this paragraph that is legitimately in a letter I wrote to my sister:

"So, I went Christmas shopping the other day. Anne had told me about this gold glitter nail polish for three bucks and I was like I WANT THAT.  So anyway, I was supposed to be Christmas shopping, but I was on the hunt for that nail polish, dang it.  So I searched and searched and looked high and low for at least two minutes (dedication, baby!), but I couldn’t find it.  And I was sad.  Very sad.  Because I mean, how is a girl supposed to live without her gold glitter nails?  It’s just absurd!  But if it’s any consolation, I found three other colors instead.  And they’re all so pretty!  You see, the thing is, I really like having my nails painted.  And not just my toenails, but my fingernails as well.  And for the past six months, I’ve really been slacking.  School was killing me and I just didn’t have time.  I mean, even my toenails are looking pathetic.  I think I painted them once this semester.  So anyway, what I’m trying to say is that I got three colors: mint, a pinkish (I was trying to find salmon, but the pink was so pretty!), and a gray.  I know gray might sound weird, but it’s pretty hip and “in” right now and I really like it because you know me, always trying to be a hipster and stuff.  I painted my fingernails gray last night and then I showed mom last night when she got home from her GNO (Girls Night Out!) and I’m pretty sure she thinks I’m emo now.  But whate’er, I do what I want.  Also, look.  I just wrote a huge paragraph about nail polish.  So that’s good."

What am I? A five year old?  Gosh, that's just embarrassing.  Anyway, in other news I wanted to show you guys this link because I think it's funny

Also, after you're done looking at that, spend a little more time thinking about #20 and watch this because it's only the best thing I've ever seen.

That's all guys.  I 'm getting really tired and I don't know if it's really the meds or if I'm just imagining things.  Probably the second one. Okay, bye.

i just did/saw/said that.

(super high qual pic of me making dinner while wearing my swimsuit and a graduation gown.  stay classy).

So there was a time in my life when I truly believed I possessed an average number of social skills. You know, at least enough to avoid being given those horrifically confused looks that say, "What on earth are you doing?"

I mean, really.  I thought I had that pretty much under control.  I would occasionally be embarrassed or do something pretty foolish, but never enough to make me question whether or not I should really be allowed in public.  Lately, everything I believed about myself has been questioned.

I just feel like I've done more than the average number of idiotic things lately.

Please let me share.

1. On Sunday, Danielle and I were walking back to class after having our pictures taken for the new ward directory.  I was talking loudly (oh, really?!) about something stuuuupid right as we walked past the elders quorum room...as they were setting someone apart.  'Please, Stacy,' the occupants of the room seemed to say. 'Do something that could be a little more distracting. I DARE YOU.'

2. Also on the topic of church.  We had a little mix and mingle afterward so that we could get to know each other and consume cheesy popcorn and grapes (I can't explain that choice of food combination).  So, you know, there I was, just trying to do my veteran ward member duty by introducing myself to others.  I went up to these two guys and asked them who they were.  "Oh, so you're new. What's your name? What are you majoring in? Where are you from?"  You, know. The usual.  The first guy answered the questions all normal style and then I turned to the next guy and asked him the same things.  His response: "Oh, well.  I'm not actually new."  WHY AM I THE WORST?  Seriously, he had been in the ward for four months and I had no idea.  And the worst part?  I can honestly say that I STILL don't know his name or what he looks like.  I must have been too ashamed to remember to put that little tidbit in my memory bank.  A+ for me.

3. Sometimes I leave the house a little late on my way to work.  The other day was one of those days.  When I'm running late, I usually just make myself some toast and run out the door.  The other day I had enough time to put some nutella on my toast before I had to leave.  I walked to work, devouring the toast (another shameful event in and of itself).  I got to work, opened the office, helped a few students and a professor, and then went to use the bathroom.  As I washed my hands, I looked in the mirror and saw that I had nutella ALL UP ON MY FACE.  Seriously, how did I even manage that?  And then I had had those conversations with students and a man with a Ph.D!  WHY?!  Lesson learned: buttered toast from here on out.

4. On the first day of class this semester, a poor freshman walked up to me and asked me where the Eyring Science Center was.  I quickly told her where it was and then we both headed our separate ways.  About four seconds later I realized that I had just told her where the Clyde Building was.  In fact, when she asked me, we were standing maybe 30 feet from the Eyring Science Center.  Good thing I'm in my fifth year of college.

5. I broke what I'm pretty sure is the cardinal rule of facebook messaging, which is: Make sure you're sending your message to the RIGHT PERSON.  The worst part was that I was attempting to send a message to someone else about a different time of embarrassment which had occurred in front of a professor.  I mean, what the heck is up with that?  So, I'm sure the message was well received, especially since it was immediately followed by an all caps response from me indicating that I am the worst at technology.  Stay classy, right?

6. The other day, I walked in on a couple when they weren't expecting it.  I don't think I need to go into more explanation except to say that EVERYONE was uncomfortable.

7. One time, Danielle kept getting phone calls over and over from the same number.  Every time she picked it up, it would just be the sound of a fax machine.  On like the tenth call, I jokingly told her to hand the phone to me and I would take care of it.  I took the phone and rudely said, "Please stop harassing my friend" knowing that I would just hear the sound of a fax machine on the other end.  EXCEPT I DIDN'T.  What I heard was, "I'm so sorry!  I really didn't mean to!  Really, I apologize for all the other calls.  You see, what happened was..."  at which point I started to apologize profusely for how rude I was while at the same time getting the phone out of my hand and giving it back to Danielle as quickly as possible.  Girlfriend cannot catch a break 'round here.

You guys, I know I'm not and idiot, but srsly. I'm afraid these idiotic occurrences are happening more and more often and that they are getting worse and worse.  I'm worried.  I mean, the next thing you know, I'll be walking up to an old man in a swimsuit and smacking him on the rear because I think he's my dad or something.

Oh, wait.  I've already done that.

does anyone here have epilepsy?

April 2009

It's weird to think that I started my freshman year of college four whole years ago.  I look at the little freshman running all over campus and I can't believe it's been FOUR years since I was one of them.  Time seriously flies by, it's ridiculous.

Tonight as we were driving home and I was falling asleep in the back, I remember seeing some flashing lights through my closed eyelids.  This reminded me of one of my all-time favorite freshman year moments.

One time, Rach and I were in our Physical Science 100 class.  The professor was going through the slides all super normal style.  Then he clicked to go to the next slide and all the slide said was, "Does anyone here have epilepsy?"

We were both like, what the cray?  It turns out he was about to pull out a strobe light and he didn't want any there to be any people with epilepsy who might be affected by these flashing lights and have seizures or something.  I mean, it all made sense, but it was just the weirdest thing to see a slide that just asked if anyone had epilepsy.

Sooooo, that's kind of one of my favorite jokes now and it might not be entirely appropriate but whenever there is a flashing or flickering light, I always say, "Oh my gosh!  Nobody asked if I have epilepsy! That was soooooo rude." I think it's far more hilarious than anyone else does, but what else is new?

Oh, freshman year.  Sometimes I miss how carefree and irresponsible and wild and crazy we were.  Those were some pretty fun times.  Also, what the heck were we doing 90% of the time?  For example, this picture below. That actually happened.  Kills me.

"Just eatin' her spanish rice. How is it?"
"So good."

See, you don't even think that's funny, but it kills me every time.

dream come true.

I was just standing there at the grocery store making healthy choices like choosing a few good apples when I heard over the loudspeaker, "Attention shoppers: everything in the donut case is now only 25 cents.  That's right, 25 cent donuts at the bakery right now."

Obviously, bakery girl had my complete attention with the word "donut" and as soon as I heard the words "25 cents" I handed Danielle my bag of apples (who needs those?!) and made a beeline to the bakery where there was a case full of donuts!  Cake donuts!  Cake donuts with oreos on them! Red velvet cake donuts!  This girl was in heaven, not a joke.  Together, Danielle and I fought the crowds (seriously, do people plan their shopping time for when this sale begins because I'm pretty sure there were like 12 moms pacing back and forth waiting for this announcement because those homegirls pounced).  In the end, we had eight donuts.  EIGHT DELICIOUS DONUTS.

I know that's a lot, but they were only two dollars!  And we Danielle shared half of hers! Don't try to tell me you would have passed that up because if you would, then dang. You cray cray.

In other important news, is it spelled donut or doughnut? I just spent a couple minutes looking it up and it appears I can do it both ways, but "donut" is apparently the lazy way. Whatevs.  A donut's a doughnut as far as I'm concerned.

last day of college?

Today, April 11, 2012 should be my last day of college classes.  Of course, as I've mentioned approximately 894388970 times in the last month, I'm on the five year plan.  So, this means that unlike all my hip friends who know how to get college done in four years, I am still here for another year.  I'm not actually that upset about it, except I do kind of wish I could join in the graduation festivities with the rest of my friends in the major (I hear they're having donuts!), but it's okay.

Anyway, after Soc 420 (420, say what?!) today, Meghan asked me to take a picture of her, Lindsey, and Ariel with a sign saying "last day of college."  I'll be honest.  I was totes jealous.  I wanted to join in the fun!  So, later that day, I made a sign for Janelle and me to hold and asked Ariel to take a picture of us with it right after we had finished our Soc 405 final.  I look creepy, but I was trying to look sassy.  Which is a little depressing because if that is what my sassy face looks like, I'm suddenly understanding why people don't give me much sympathy when I try and use it to get my way.

So, here's to another year of college with the majority of my freshman roommates and sociology with my main girl Janelle (even though she's taking a semester off to birth her child--so selfish!).  Hopefully Janelle, Aaron, Tyler, and I can convince the new department chair to start some new capstone classes like Soc 485: White Males: How to Exploit Your Advantages and my personal favorite, Soc 473: Sociology of Kittens and Cute Things (Bows, Buttons, and Woodland Creatures).  I feel like people would really like those classes.

logical thoughts.

So, I feel like we (you and I) talk about this all the time, but remember how I have to wake up early because I have to be at work at 7:30 in the a.m.?  Well, that requires me to wake up supes earlier (i.e. 5:40).  Also, I'd like to put in a disclaimer that says that no, it does not take me almost 2 hours to get ready in the morning.  If I put my mind to it and if I skipped eating breakfast and took a shorter shower (which I swear is not physically possible for me) and if I didn't stare at the contents of my closet for ten minutes in an attempt to pick out an outfit and if I didn't do some of the other things in my morning routine then I could prolls (probably) get completely ready from start to finish in one hour.  But the thing is I supes enjoy a shower of decent length and I love breakfast and I love the cobwebs that grow in my mouth as I stare stupidly into my closet attempting to find a shirt that hasn't been worn in at least a week.

But this is all beside the point.

The point is, this morning when my alarm went off at 5:45 (after I had hit snooze like three times), the following thought process occurred:

Okay, my alarm clock is going off. It is 5:45.  Hmm, if I don't wake up right now then I can sleep in as long as I want.

No, but really.  I thought that.  I thought that as long as I didn't wake up right then, then I didn't really have to wake up until 9 or 10 and I could really have gone for another 3 or 4 hours of sleep.  Now, I know this isn't that earthshaking for anyone else, but seriously.  I legitimately thought that as long as I didn't wake up right then, it would somehow be the weekend or something and I could sleep to my heart's content.  SO WEIRD...and completely illogical.

But like I said, totally seemed logical at the time.  So obviously, I just went back to sleep.

At 6:20, I woke up on my own because I think that somewhere in my subconscious I realized that I was not making sense.  I looked at the clock and tried to figure out why the heck I had chosen to go back to sleep.  And then those totally logical thoughts that I had been thinking came back to me and I remembered that sometimes I'm an idiot.

And yet, I just laid there for another 10 minutes.

But it was all good...I just didn't shower (totes still made time for breakfast, though it was eaten with a glazed look on my face as I just stared out the window).  It wasn't quite like this experience though, so that was good.

And that, my friends is one of the most borderline pointless posts I've ever written, though Lindsey (seen on the left in the picture above) found it slightly amusing and as long as one person is amused, I consider it a success.

gadgets and gizmos.

(lacey's best picture ever...my b.)

Want to know something cool about my apartment (besides the awesome carpet)?  Our TV.

First of all, it was either a) stolen from BYU campus (judging by the "BYU #18) on the side or b) purchased at some auction when BYU realized the tv was older than it's founder.

Second of all, it doesn't have a power button.  That's right, the power button broke.  So, to deal with this, we used to have a little metal stick (I just realized that does not sound like it is going anywhere good).  We used that little guy to stick it into where the power button used to be and then push up to press whatever mechanism (I feel smart using that word) there is to turn the tv on.  Now, this was super successful for about 6 months or so, though it would sometimes take a couple minutes to move the metal stick at just the right angle so it would hit the button just right to turn it on.  But then I guess one day we got a little too excited and somehow jammed it so the tv was always on and could not be turned off.

Which brings me to the third awesome thing about our tv, which is the process of turning it on.  Te only way to do this is to plug and unplug the tv.  To do this, you must crawl under the entertainment center, pull the back wall of it forward a bit (that sounds confusing, so see the picture below) and then squeeze your hand in there to grab the cord of the tv.  Then you must blindly feel around until you get the plug into the outlet.  Then, wait about ten seconds and you may then enjoy the pleasures of modern technology!  (To turn the tv off, you must simply pull the plug out--much easier than plugging it in).

BONUS FEATURE: We don't own any remotes--not for the tv, the dvd player, or even our archaic vhs player (no idea where that came from).  Talk about too much exercise.  Girl can't just sit on the couch to watch a movie--what the heck is up with that?

So the moral of this story is that we have an AWESOME television.  If you ever want to have a really awesome movie experience, you're probably going to want to watch it at our place.  Just give me a ring, and we'll see if we can fit you into our schedule...but be sure to call in advance, because we tend to fill up fast!

I mean, look at this!  How jealous are you right now?

the razor riders hit the big screen.

Real life conversation via text:

Stacy: Hey, so not that I'm a creative genius or anything, but can we please make a scootering video this weekend? How awesome would that be?
Danielle: Yesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyesyes

Awesome...but then, of course, I forgot to iron out a few details (aka who would film the vid and where I would get a scooter from since my main rental source Jon Doxey had moved).  Fortunately, Danielle has connections to our main man Dillean Dillon who when asked if he was good at filming people scootering said, "Is that even a question?"

Then Jon Doxey was contacted and he was such a swell guy that he agreed to take his lunch break right then (which, by the way, it was 2:30 pm, so homeboy really needed to take that break).  He met Danielle at his apartment and then proceeded to GIVE her the scooter to give to ME for KEEPS!  Forever and ever, amen!  A purple scooter!  Mine!  Such an awesome gift!

So then, the important parts of picking out awesome outfits (neat tights, Doc!) and the less important part of showering took place and then we were ready to go!  We were super lucky we did it on that day because it was totes the last day before the snow came and everything was covered in slushy rain/snow nastiness. We headed up to the canyon to this awesome little place that had a nice scooter-appropriate path and the sun was perfect and Dillean is a creative genius and we are professional actresses and it was so fun!  When we got back, Dillean did all the work and threw the vid together in like an hour and all we had to do was make him dinner (using mostly his food, but still).  That's my kind of business deal.

And now, please sit back and enjoy this totally legit video about scootering and then tell me about how you can no longer resist the need to buy a razor scooter.  I totally understand.

I just said that.

In Soc 307 on the last day of class...

Stacy: I love doing Venn diagrams!  We should quit this stata programming stuff and only do Venn diagrams, because there is one thing I am good at and that is addition and subtraction!
Christina:  That's two things.
Stacy: ...dang it.

So maybe I struggle with addition and subtraction as well...what's the big deal?

Homegirl.

Today, homegirl over here had to leave for work at 7:20 am, just like every other day.

Homegirl had set her alarm for 5:30 am (don't judge), just like every other day.

Apparently, homegirl chose to turn the alarm off instead of pressing snooze, unlike every other day.

At 7:05--yes, 7:05!--homegirl's roommate opens the door to her room and asks if homegirl should be awake by now.

Homegirl leaps, leaps! out of bed and gets ready faster than she ever has before. Of course, getting ready faster than ever before doesn't always leave time for some of the important things like showering (not actually that crucial these days...), breakfast (ultra important to this girl), preparing a lunch (vital to survival), any kind of thought as to what she should wear (which resulted in today's outfit, The Purple Pirate..awesome), or even brushing her hair.  That's right, folks.  Homegirl literally threw her hair back into the first thing that could not be considered an exact replication of a lion's mane and ran out the door...

...at 7:21 am.

Purple Pirate for the win.

In Real Life.

Sometimes I think I walk into Soc 310 and immediately turn into a doofus. Yes, doofus. But really.  These are some real conversation that occurred with my professor in front of the entire class.  I really need to work on thinking before I speak.

Dr. G:  I teach that class in the summer, too, so that's an option as well.

Me: Aw, man...I don't want to take classes in the summer.

Dr. G: Hey, I have classes all year round, so don't complain.

Me: You're still taking classes?!?

Dr. G: It's been proven that people that don't need things repeated have higher intelligence levels.

Me: Wait, what?

(and then it took me forever to figure out why everyone was laughing at me)

One of these days I'll figure it out...

Smile, Like You've Got Nothing to Prove

I have a few things I'd like to share with the masses.

I am going to start using my camera more.  I used to be the girl that seriously had her camera everywhere she went.  It's funny because you probably think that's an exaggeration. (Side note: I use that phrase way too much).  Anyway, I want to break it out so I can capture every day of my life.  I'm going to try something.  I'm going to try and take at least one picture a day.  You see, I had this small problem called "Stacy took so many pictures that she filled up her entire hard drive...but really.  I'm up to date and have it all backed up on my parent's external hard drive, but I'm still all sorts of nervous about deleting stuff off of my computer.  I finally deleted freshman year (but if we're going to be honest, I should probably tell you that it's still sitting in the recycling bin on my desktop...separation issues, anyone?)  Moral of the story, I want to have more pictures to post on my blog and to help me remember all the ridiculous things I do.  For example, pictures like this should be a whole lot more common:
Those were the days.

Next up: new year.  I've been trying all sorts of new things this semester.  I'm making a greater effort to look "presentable" for school.  Sadly, this rules out my regular wet-hair-in-a-pony-tail-every-day look.  So far, it's been working pretty well, and there's this other thing: I feel good.  Strangely enough, I like that feeling.  But tell me this:  How is it that even if I wake up half an hour earlier than I used to, I still end up rushing at the last minute to get dressed and throw some sort of lunch together?

Can someone say "number one most hilarious photo of the century?"

I'm that cute. Really.

I just want everyone to know that I'm chatting with a librarian right now.  Yes, that's right.  The HBLL has a little online chatting thing you can do with the people that work here.  I'm totally stoked.  The librarian has already said "let me check", all hip-like, with no capitalization or anything.

Oh, shoot.  Now he says "looks like 87 minutes".  I think he's going to be asking for my number pretty soon.

Now he says, "I tried the library site to, but I just looked it up on google!" (so cute the way he spelled "to" wrong).

Now he says, "Thanks!"  Do you think the fact that he capitalized it is a sign that he's going to ask me out soon???

But in all seriousness, how cool is that?  You can be sure that I'm going to be utilizing that option a whole lot more in the future...

Potential Conversation Starters:
"fieapbip uripaf rueipgfjk feivjfk; jeiqpfjdage."
"Do you hear that sound?"
"Having fun, isn't hard!  When you've got a library card!"
"Do you want to be a librarian for the rest of your life? It sounds awful!" "Oh, you've been a librarian for 48 years?  My bad..."
"Do you have any books on dinosaurs?"
"Where can I find a book with good date ideas?  P.S. Are you single?"
"Hey, where is the nearest bathroom?"
"Why are there books everywhere? I'm getting claustrophobic!!"

This is going to be so good.
