#firstworldproblems?

One of the two toilets in my apartment hasn't been working for 4 weeks (and nbd, all the water from it leaked into the floor and warped all the flooring).

Our fridge and freezer decided to stop working on Saturday...right after I went grocery shopping.

So it has come to this.

Whatever, I'm worth it.

gum surgery--woe is me!

So remember how in my last post I was telling you guys about that gum surgery?  So, yeah.  I had gum surgery.  And let me tell you something.  Gum surgery is the pits, yo. THE PITS.  Okay, I might be exaggerating slightly, but STILL.  I was eating bananas and yogurt only for a good long while there and it was the worst.  I mean, I used to love yogurt and bananas, but I just don't know about our relationship anymore.  I am hungry alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the time, not a joke.  Anyway, I've been sleeping and stuff but I think I'm turning into one of those hospital patients who end up in the hospital for months and they don't get enough exercise so their legs get really weak and they have to relearn how to walk and stuff. Because, see here's the thing: I'm not allowed to lift anything or bend over to do anything or have my head below my heart at any point.  So guys, I'm turning into a vegatable and it's not good.  I've been walking around and I think I've lost all feeling in my right leg and I probably have a yogurt baby (you know, like a food baby, but made of just yogurt!) and I really thought the end of the world was coming yesterday because I was at an all-time low!

Okay, I'm being dramatic but the exciting news is that today I advanced to solid foods!  I ate pasta!  And a muffin!  And another muffin!  And another one! (so my food options are still limited to soft foods, BUT STILL).  This is big news, guys!  We're going places!  I'm recovering!  I won't have to have one of my legs sawed off after all!  HalleluJah, bay bay!

In other news, somehow I am never done with school and my professor asked me to write an entire research paper before Christmas, which I gladly agreed to do because I mean, come on people.  Is there anything more exciting I could be doing over my Christmas break?!  It is in this one instance that I am grateful that I am (semi) bedridden (or is it just lazy?) because I wrote 80% of it today.  And then I was like, "Do I have friends?"

That's all, guys.  Except for the fact that we made ONE MILLION cookies to give away and I couldn't even  have one of them because it was the day after my surgery and all I could do was drool as I looked at them and attempt to eat some of the cookie dough (that was moderately successful).  Anyway, on to bigger and better things, right?  Like Christmas in three days!  At which point I will be done with this research paper and I might be able to eat cookies!  Okay!

fortune cookies, yeah.

may your friday night be more exciting than mine.

of course, that shouldn't be too hard considering mine is being spent researching for a regression analysis paper in the chinese section of the asian collections in the library and I don't know of anything more boring than that.

the only thing that has preserved my sanity was the part of the night where janelle sent me a picture of a man holding a cactus while standing next to a burning car.  I don't even know why, but that killed me.  funniest thing of the day, hands down.

although, let's be honest.  attempting to use my webcam without other people walking by and noticing that YES, I'm taking pictures of myself so I can write a blog post about how dumb this night is was also pretty fun.

also, I'm fairly confident that there are more comfortable chairs out there because this one is straight up killing my back.  I can't wait for the day when I don't have to sit in one of these little cubicles because I have no ability to focus when it comes to regression analysis, which is totes understandable, right?  but I must say, I do get a lot more done when the option of people watching is not even available.  people watching is prolls my favorite hobby.  actually, no.  I like scootering more.  and eating cookies.  but it's a close third.

in other news, dr. g and I wore matching-colored shirts today and he was the one that noticed and was pretty excited about it.  the rust color is totes in, my friends. TOTES.

logical thoughts.

So, I feel like we (you and I) talk about this all the time, but remember how I have to wake up early because I have to be at work at 7:30 in the a.m.?  Well, that requires me to wake up supes earlier (i.e. 5:40).  Also, I'd like to put in a disclaimer that says that no, it does not take me almost 2 hours to get ready in the morning.  If I put my mind to it and if I skipped eating breakfast and took a shorter shower (which I swear is not physically possible for me) and if I didn't stare at the contents of my closet for ten minutes in an attempt to pick out an outfit and if I didn't do some of the other things in my morning routine then I could prolls (probably) get completely ready from start to finish in one hour.  But the thing is I supes enjoy a shower of decent length and I love breakfast and I love the cobwebs that grow in my mouth as I stare stupidly into my closet attempting to find a shirt that hasn't been worn in at least a week.

But this is all beside the point.

The point is, this morning when my alarm went off at 5:45 (after I had hit snooze like three times), the following thought process occurred:

Okay, my alarm clock is going off. It is 5:45.  Hmm, if I don't wake up right now then I can sleep in as long as I want.

No, but really.  I thought that.  I thought that as long as I didn't wake up right then, then I didn't really have to wake up until 9 or 10 and I could really have gone for another 3 or 4 hours of sleep.  Now, I know this isn't that earthshaking for anyone else, but seriously.  I legitimately thought that as long as I didn't wake up right then, it would somehow be the weekend or something and I could sleep to my heart's content.  SO WEIRD...and completely illogical.

But like I said, totally seemed logical at the time.  So obviously, I just went back to sleep.

At 6:20, I woke up on my own because I think that somewhere in my subconscious I realized that I was not making sense.  I looked at the clock and tried to figure out why the heck I had chosen to go back to sleep.  And then those totally logical thoughts that I had been thinking came back to me and I remembered that sometimes I'm an idiot.

And yet, I just laid there for another 10 minutes.

But it was all good...I just didn't shower (totes still made time for breakfast, though it was eaten with a glazed look on my face as I just stared out the window).  It wasn't quite like this experience though, so that was good.

And that, my friends is one of the most borderline pointless posts I've ever written, though Lindsey (seen on the left in the picture above) found it slightly amusing and as long as one person is amused, I consider it a success.

Does Anyone Else See a Problem Here?

I found this little present behind my bed when I was packing, and I was not pleased.  I showed this to the cleaning lady, hoping that she would report it to maintenance or something.  All she did was tell me I had to clean it if I wanted to pass my cleaning check.

Uhhh, no thanks.

As much as I'm seriously going to miss all my roommates (dang you, marriage and horse ranches), I'm really quite excited to be moving to a mold-free zone.  Plus, there will only be two people to a bathroom, instead of 6.  What a nice thought.
