bay bay!

Last weekend, we had a baby shower for my main girl Rachy Rach.  Girl is seven months pregnant and I can't even believe it.  Anyway, we had said shower here at my house because, let's be real.  I have a pretty big living room.  Rachel's sister planned all the games and decorations and such and I was simply in charge of food.  Which was good because it turns out even that stressed me out.  Okay, not really, but let me just tell you that if I did not have the help of Allison and Danielle that baby shower would have had saltine crackers only.

Anyway, I was actually really excited to put this together and I think it all turned out rather well.  I even got all kinds of cray and made one of those triangle banner things.  And when I say I made that, I mean it was entirely made by Allison.  I just thought of it.  Man, I'm the worst.

Apparently Rachel is really popular because I'd say there were at least 20 people that came.  It was really fun and we played some fun games (all planned by Tracey).  Of course, I did embarrassing things, but what else is new?  Rachel got some ADORABLE gifts including the CUTEST little sweater from H&M.  Srsly, I am doing all my baby shopping there from now on, NOT A JOKE.

Also, my number one favorite thing about baby showers and bridal showers and all other showers (except the normal style one that I take every day--or every other day???) is the fact that I get to see so many of my beautiful, wonderful, fabulous friends/old roommates.  Gosh dang it, I'm obsessed with those girls. We had five of the six Penrose girls and it was just magical.  I'm so glad that these girls are still such good friends to me.  I mean, really.  I lucked out big time in the roommate department.  It's unreal.

And of course, I suppose this is an appropriate time to mention that Rachel is still my number one favorite girl.  I have a lot of besties (that word is just gross looking and gross sounding, but let's just roll with it), but that Rachel.  Girl just kills me.  Also, did you know she's amazing?  Like seriously.  One million amazing.  SUCH a good person, SUCH a hard worker, SUCH a good student (although seniorits can be a doozie, haha), SUCH a hilarious person, SUCH an awesome example to me, and SUCH everything I every could have asked for in a roommate and best friend.  Oh, and she's going to be SUCH a good mom.  Love you, kid.

And now, the part of the show where I show you a few pictures from the blessed event, courtesy of instagram.

This girl. THE best. (P.S. Twin boots!)

Penrose, baby.  Too good.

Oh, and this picture happened.  So strange, yet so one million hilarious to me.

Though we struggled to get the cake out of the pan, with a little frosting love from Danielle and a mini banner by me, I think this three-layered cake turned out alright after all.

Success!

obligatory festival of colors post.

Last Saturday, the Festival of Colors was held down in Spanish Fork.  If you live in Provo or any of the surrounding areas, you know what that is, but mostly because your facebook feed gets filled with pictures of people who went and it gets a little ridiculous.

If you've never heard of this Festival of Colors, watch this video and you'll have a pretty good idea of what it is and why it is that everyone and their second cousin twice removed feel a need to attend.

Anyway, since I do live in Provo, I obvs had to go...again. (Although this year, I did not have to wear a brace wrapped in plastic wrap, so that was nice).  The weather was also way better than last year, so that was another bonus feature.

Danielle, Dillon, and Allison all wore painter's suits which was neat and also got them a lot of compliments. Danielle was getting way into it and asking everyone to throw their colors at her face, which resulted in her looking like an Avatar, my favorite.

So next year, get yourself over there if you haven't done so yet.  If not for the crazy amounts of colors, then do it so you can meet all the really interesting people that end up there.  Or go so you can see the llamas.  That's neat, too.

Also, I still have pink chalk in my ear. Struggle.

A couple of before pictures...

When people see someone with a completely white shirt, it doesn't take them long to attack...

Danielle grew a mustache!

Pretty soon, we were covered...especially Danielle.

Cool music.

We asked a girl to take pictures of us dancing.  She had the camera for at least a minute, I swear.
She took one picture...ha.

Llamas and a two-headed Danielle!

Danielle wanted more color on her and the color seemed to be showing up on me a little better, so we hugged super awkward style.

Totes a success.

tip top thrift shop---the CLUB.

So, if any of you read Danielle's blog, then you might notice that my blog has become a sort of "delayed response" version of hers. But, guess what?!  This post is not different...sorry.

For one of Danielle's classes, the professor offered extra credit for going to Fremont Indian State Park.  Danielle is all about the extra things (especially food), so we gathered up a few friends we had laying around and went there a few weekends ago.  As it turns out, Fremont Indian State Park is over two hours away, and even longer if you take the scenic route and stop for lunch in Manti and stop at the "Tip Top Thrift Shop--The Club" and stop at DI.  But, you know what?  As Doctor Danielle would say, "It's all about the journey."

It really was a lot of fun and I think I learned a little bit about what the petroglyphs that the Fremont Indians made actually mean ("but we can't know for sure since they died hundreds of years ago"--direct quote from the information movie).  We went on this mini walk/hike where Doc and Allison and I quickly realized that we had selected the wrong type of footwear (plus, Doc scratched her booooots--"How would I scratch THOSE?" "You were climbing a rock!").  On the walk, we saw many pictographs or petroglyphs and also some more recent carvings done by some classy teenagers over the years.

Such the good times.

Since we had come all that way, we obvs had to have a photo shoot, courtesy of our ever-so-talented friend Dillean.  Take a look-see...

straight up edward and bella rot thur.

(super late for my angst class)

So much leaning!

Oh, and bonus feature...a picture from when we stopped at Mom's Cafe in Salina (population 2,394--way more than I thought).  Also, if you want something to eat when you're out in the middle of nowhere, you should know that (a) you will find literally NOTHING in Aurora, Utah (Dillean was pretty bummed about that) and (b) Mom's Cafe drowns all of its food it grease.  Anyway, this is me and Cameron at Mom's.  Mom kept giving us the stink eye, but we didn't like her food, so it worked.
