the story of our first kiss. for reals.

On Saturday night (the day after we held hands for the first time), Levi came over because Dillon and Danielle wanted to make sushi. They had been talking about it with Levi earlier in the week and Saturday was the day! I don't like sushi. Like at all..

But we made sushi. And it was alright. Actually I guess everyone else really loved it. Also apparently we're all terrible at making things unless Danielle is there to baby step us through the process. The part of the night where she was on the phone was a bit of a struggle for the rest of us. Levi was probably very concerned that if we started dating I wouldn't even be able to make a peanut butter sandwich. So that was good.

Anyway, after the sushi adventure (and it really was an adventure), we were all just hanging out in the living room. It started getting late and I was hoping that Dillon and Danielle would go to bed soon. Waaaaaay past my bedtime (probably at like 11:30 pm) they finally did. Which meant it was just me and Levi left. From the way he had been acting, I was sure he wanted to kiss me. He had been sort of holding my hand throughout the night or putting his leg close to mine when we sat at the dinner table and I just knew. I'm just really good at dating, you see. So I knew he wanted to kiss me. I'm basically a dating diva. As I'm sure you already knew.

We spent a little while longer hanging out in the living room while he showed me what the ghetto of St. Louis looked like on google maps (how romantic!). And then it was time to go. Which meant it was go time. Which meant he was totally going to kiss me. He looked nervous. Poor guy. First kisses for a guy can't always be easy. It was then that I knew I needed to help him out. I just needed to let him know that it was okay to kiss me. So I decided to hold onto that hug extra long. Just wanted him to know that I wasn't going anywhere. I was totally okay if he went in for the kiss. Don't worry, dude. N even a BD.

And so I held onto that hug. And waited. It was a long time waiting for this nervous guy to finally make a move, SHEESH. He looked at me for a long time...and then FINALLY. He kissed me.

I was so proud of myself for having created a friendly environment and helping him to realize that I was totes ready for him to kiss me and that he shouldn't feel nervous and that everything was going to be a-okay. 10 points for gryffindor.

About two months later, I heard Levi's side of the story, which basically went like this:

INSIDE LEVI'S HEAD:

Well, this has been a nice evening. I think she really enjoyed looking at ghetto houses and eating sushi. She's a lucky girl, that one. Hmm, well I think it's time for me to go. Let's stand up now. I'll put my shoes on. Mmm, I just remembered all that sushi I just ate. Yum, I love sushi. Okay, well I have both of my shoes on now. I guess I should give her a hug. She's cute. Okay, now we're hugging. Seriously that sushi was good. She is nice to hug. She has really improved over the past week or so. I'm impressed. Well, that was a nice hug. Time to go. Wait, what? I can't seem to let go. She has quite a tight grip. Why won't she stop hugging me? What the heck is going on? There's a lot of sushi in there and she's squeezing pretty hard. That could be bad...I mean, I like hugging her, but I should really probably go. So I'll just release her annnnnddd....nope. Still hugging. What is going on? Wait a second...does she want me to kiss her? Is that what's happening here? But we just held hands yesterday! And I'm a classy gentleman! I was going to wait at leeeeast a week. But it seems we have a bit of a predicament. I want to leave but she has this goofy grin on her face and a really tight grip on me and I really don't see any way out of this except to kiss her...well, I mean, I guess I could kiss her. She would be nice to kiss. Alright, here goes...

And then we kissed.

And that, my friends, is how I got my first kiss with my future husband. By giving him a iron grip hug and not letting go until I got that first kiss, dang it!  And that's how it's done. Feel free to ask me for more dating tips if you're looking for your relationship to succeed. I've got tons of them.

Over and out.
