Powder Blue Boys.

So, I'm going to have to say this: it has been a pretty excellent Valentine's Day.

When I arrived at work, it seemed like it was going to be just your average day.

When Sue got in, she told me about how every year, one of the emeritus professors order a singing valentine for all the department office secretaries.  Now, its not just any barbershop quartet.  It is a barbershop quartet made up of four retired men who wear powder blue tuxes.

Could I have been more excited?

But before that happened, we had another little surprise.  Dr. Goates' son is in one of the "Valentunes" singing groups at his high school and Dr. Goates decided to have them come and sing for his wife, who is also a chemistry professor.  I saw them coming in and knew there was no way I was going to miss it.  Yes, I walked out of my office and down to her classroom and watched this group of 9 high school boys sing to her.  Hilarious.

Then, as we were walking back to the office (Sue had joined me--with the camera) the boys were walking behind me.  I heard one of them say, "Now we have to go sing to the secretaries."  Aw, what's up.

I walked back into the office and they followed me in.  Dr. Goates gathered all the ladies up, including me.    It was so hilarious.  I can't even remember what they sang, but I'm telling you.  If a 16-year-old boy sings to you, it's bound to be adorable.  Loved it.

After they had left, and we had just barely settled down and were getting back to work, the boys in powder blue walked in.  Oh, my.  Old men in powder blue.  Excellent.  Plus, one of them was in a wheelchair/walker thing, and let me tell you, that man was such the so adorable in every single way.  I kind of wished they had all been 88 and just as adorable as him.  I could not get over it.

They sang us two songs and even gave us each a rose.  Oh, dang.

Serenaded twice in one day?  What more could a girl possibly ask for?

But really?

That's my kind of Valentine's Day.
