The Way I See It

Side note:  I have 20/20 vision, so obviously I see things pretty well.

Life is good.  All is well.  I'm spoiled.  Complaining is ridiculous, even though I'm pretty good at it.  Patience takes work.  Things will turn out.  I'll figure out my life.  My life is amazing.  I have goals (the one where I'm supposed to laugh quieter is definitely not working very well, but hey.  It's the thought that counts).  Laughing is fabulous.  I'm ridiculous and wildly immature at times, but for the most part, I still act my age.  Well, maybe not the most part, just the some part.

This summer is working out.  It was kind of rough at first because I thought I hated my ward or something, but seriously, this week has done wonders for my outlook on life.  I love my ward.  It's hilarious.  There are some interesting people, but how is that different from anywhere else?  I mean, really.  I can completely be myself here and I don't even care.  I know more people in my ward right now than I ever really did in my last ward.  So what if this ward is a little older.  It was bound to happen.  I'm not getting any younger and neither are these people, so I just have to deal with it.  I'm afraid that me and Rach are probably the loudest thing that ever happened to this apartment complex, but what are you going to do about it?  People know us.  Is that a self-centered thing to say?  Probably, but I don't care.  I like having all these friends.  I like all these people that yes, are older than me, but they're also so great.  I love them.

Moral of the story:  This certainly isn't the kind of place I ever expected to live in, but what's the point in complaining?  I am just learning to love where I am.  And when I do that, fabulous things happen.

And now I'd like to get a little sappy.  Can I just say how lucky I am?  Rachel.  We've been roommates for over two school years now.  Be honest with yourself, how often does that happen?  How often do people live with someone and get as close as we are and manage to keep a great friendship for that long?  I'm just loving the fact that it's working.  Granted, life isn't perfect, but we're good.  We can handle it.  And 99% of the time, we just end up laughing...and about the dumbest things.  I love how well we play off of each other.  Once we get going, there's no stopping us.  A guy in our ward asked us the other day where on earth we get all our "material" for the random tangents we constantly go off on.  To be honest, I don't even know.  It just comes...and we run with it.

But besides the fact that we can laugh together, we learn together.  We teach each other and we learn from each other.  I'll admit, I don't particularly care to be wrong, but I've learned a lot from her about life and everything from learning from trials to dealing with stress to being care-free to loving others.  We know everything about each other.  We share everything, and we're always there for each other.  When you're away from your family, that's something you need.  Someone to be your family.  Yes, whole apartments tend to be "families", but Rachel and I, well, I don't know.  All I know is that it works and that I love it.

So there you have it.

"Nope.  Nope, nope, nope."
"Memories, la la la la la la..."
"Mark, that's super inappropriate."
"Boop, boop, boop!"
"You're a freeeeeak."
"Alaskaaahhahaaaa."
"Insert snot face here."
"I'll be looking for you in your french maid outfit.  Be on the lookout for me...I'll be in my bunny outfit."
"Make sure to save me some."  "Wait, you want me to eat all of it?  That's weird..."
Temper Tantrum Practice
"Thanks, mom."
Gilly
Thug Story
Pokemon
The random hysterical laughing late at night that tends to leave Rach in tears.
"Darcy did it."
"Did you invite Cecil?"
"Imma be pee-issed."
"Girl g-g-girl.  I'll be your sunshine."

"Aren't you glad you prayed about being my roommate?"--Rachel's joke that never dies...

Aw, first pic ever that features both of us.

Hahaha, I told you your ward would be good! And I wish my full creativity could happen out here, but it's hard when you speak about 10 words of Arabic. Glad your summer is going well! Deepest love,

James
